I thought the opening ceremony was fantastic, and now I am looking forward to a great Olympics.

The only downer - shouldn't somebody have told the Queen to smile, just for a couple of seconds while she was on camera? She looked miserable as sin. If she's so fed up with being the monarch at such a special event, maybe it's time to handover to the next generation.

Lol, she's an 80 year old woman that had probably been on the go all day, she hosted a big dinner for everyone just before as well for all the heads of state so perhaps she was a bit tired out at the end of night.

I must say that I am surprised at how much is expected of her. At the jubilee celebrations she had to stand in a cold wind for hours. She was lucky that she didn't catch pneumonia.

We really shouldn't expect an 86 year old to perform public duties late at night.

I know people older than 86 who can smile for a couple of seconds, even if it is just wind! I know she is "marvellous", I just think she could have made a special effort, knowing the eyes of the world are on her.

I don't think she was aware of exactly when the director would cut to her.

Both are correct.

1. She often looks grumpy, and needs to make more effort to smile. She always has looked glum, my makes old mum calls her "old boot face".
2. We shouldn't be putting a couple aged 86 and 91 thru what we put them thru, so no wonder she looks miserable. We need to rethink it. What they went thru on the jubilee boat trip was straight out of the "Harold Shipman Guide to Caring For the Elderly."

I think she was dreading having to listen to Paul McCartney yet again.

Don't people love to whinge. Just the other day Claudia Schiffer popped round in a fully restored Aston DB5, to deliver a gold bar, asking me to 'entertain her'.

Car was the wrong colour.

At every family gathering, does the granny not leave the party at 8pm to go home?
Lot to ask an 86 year old to stay up until 1am and host party for VIP's. Amazing lady

She's old tired had a hugely long day. She doesn't know when the camera is on her.

Also I don't know many 80 year olds who can do anywhere near what she does.
An epic lady and really she does so much for the UK I don't get those who eat an elected president that's short term interest she is super long term no political alliances just there and if we're talking about value for money she tops the list

I know all that, I just think somebody on the TV production team could've tipped her the wink that she should smile at the given moment.

When you looked at all the posturing elected heads of state and even some of the manically gesticulating royalty of other nations (Prince of Orange, Queen Sofia of Spain, Prince Albert of Monaco) I think I preferred the Solemn dignity of The Queen.

You don't tell her anything, blame the moron director who cut to her at the wrong time. Same moron who had a fixation with the Aled Jones lookalike cutting to him all the time during the Olympic flame parade.

To be fair if everytime you go out they sing the same song you'd get pissed off. I bet she's saying to herself "play something else FFS".
