That looks awesome I was gutted to find it's a hyundai, means it's unlikely to come in a fast version :-( 345bhp V6 with RWD not enough for you, then? Wow is it coming here? I didn't even look into it just presumed it'd be the same s t engines as the coupe

They even have their own V8 engine too.

HeatonNorris said: Indeed - or about cars which were cheap in their day, but didn't look it. Regardless of how they've depreciated. If I can rewind back to the 1960s, I'll nominate the Fiat 124 Spider. Always thought they looked very much like contemporary Ferraris. (Although some call it an Italian MG...) Yes that is exactly what I meant. Sadly it's a bit before my time so I don't know how it was viewed in it's day, but looking at it now it looks as good as similar era Ferrari's but was evidently a lot lot cheaper.

*Al* said: To you maybe, but these cars can be had from under £4K which i consider a bargain. Very few people know what they are and have actually said to me they do look expensive. Always so many haters when most actually know so little about them, i'm certainly not trying to fool myself (or you) into thinking it's something special but for what i've paid for it, my opinion is they are good value for money now. I must say I've never been a fan of the Crossfire but just looking on Autotrader I was quite shocked they start at £3150 for an 04 plate, fully MOT'd and taxed ready to go. Convertibles look a lot better.

Surely the mk2 MR2 should be a clear winner of this thread? In red, they do look Ferrari-esque. I'm not talking replica body kits, standard cars, I hear of some owners being asked if they are a Ferrari.

Whether it still looks good after being on sale for a couple of years, we'll see I'm sure decent spec models will look fine. The plastic wheel trimmed Edge and rep. Favourite Zetec in white or resale grey will probably look awful.

I think I may be the only person on PH who doesn't like MR2s! Anyway, are there any more pics of the Hyundai above?

HeatonNorris said: Erm, they're fecking expensive!
The entry model is £32.5k... And e 6 month old one outside my window feels distinctly cheap... Far too much money blown electronics and not enough on quality. Plus the boss has had it from new, put 38,000 miles on it. And it's been back for a warranty fix or recall on a monthly basis. It's an e class coupe 220cdi blu-t'ex AMG something or other... So god knows what retail is

Simbu said: mk3 MR2 must be a contender. It looks very boxster-esque, but as you say... take the badges off and it doesn't look ordinary IMO: That particular car certainly isn't normal. Running about 240bhp...

Rule of thumb: If you've got enough time to be on a forum, you've got enough time to read the original post!

It was a '73 'L' reg in original black, with tinted windows, steel sunroof, and light beige half cloth interior. I paid £600 for the car, and an extra £50 for the Sharp EPSS/ANSS state of the art stereo/radio. Everywhere I went, people stopped to look at the car, and commented how fantastic it looked (black was an unusual colour then), because it really did look a million dollars, and as shown here, was always compared to the Aston! Unfortunately, I went over a bridge at quite high speed to discover a queue of cars that had run into the back of each other, and I was forced to join them!! Even after owning the car for two years, and damaging the front edge of the bonnet, and stainless steel front bumper (£125), I still managed to sell the car to a man in the trade who paid me £1000 for it! Definitely without doubt, the best all round car I have ever owned!! Thanks for the photo!!

Dunno how much they were in their day, but a fraction of the cost of a Ferrari or Maserati I would think!

I'd say almost any car in Hyundais current range looks like it should cost more than it actually does, obviously there are a couple of exceptions (the i10 and Veloster instantly spring to mind). I'd also say the same about the Kia Range C'eed upward.
