Protein Shakes and Weight Reduction Tablets
Discussion
Hi all,
I am about 3 weeks into my (very highly motivated) weight loss/bulk up regime consisting of the following -
Diet -
Lunch - Either a ham baguette or pasta and some kind of sauce (dolmio etc)
Dinner - Typically chicken or tuna salad or chicken with mash potato and peas
Drink - Almost exclusively water with the occasional bottle of diet coke
Snacks - very rarely eat snacks but if I do it'll be grapes
Exercise -
4 times in the gym, 2 days of cardio for a decent amount of time and 2 days of upper body work, mainly back, shoulders, bicep, tricep and pecks
The results have been pretty impressive so far.
I am a shade under 6 foot and weighed 105 kilos at the start (3 weeks ago) and am now down to 100 kilos.
I know a problem i have is breakfast, I can't/won't eat in the mornings despite knowing it will help me. Would introducing protein shakes help here? I could happily drink something like this on my way to work.
Would introducing any other pills for weight loss also help?
I am not wanting them as a substitute however no harm in speeding up weight loss if I can?
Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated!

Don't bother with pills or potions for weight loss. So many sports products and powders are just expensive placebos and rarely ever more beneficial than actual food.
You've done well to lose 5kgs in 3 weeks but you'll soon settle at losing 1-2 lbs a week, which is sustainable and healthy.
You can't beat a healthy breakfast. It's a cliche but it really is the most important meal of the day and skipping it will hinder you in the long run and make you more likely to want to binge, especially as you ramp up the exercise later on.
Don't bother with a protein shake for breakfast, just have a proper meal e.g. porridge, scrambled egg on toast etc.

Yogurt?
Fruit?
Surely you can handle those in the morning?
Then maybe snack on a granola bar or something a bit later on? Throw a protein shake in there too if you like?
Pork is nutritionally useless so you may want to consider swapping the ham baguette out for a turkey one?
My experience of weight loss pills is that they will f*ck you up! Avoid!

When are you training - mornings or evenings?
Training after work, about 6pm.Think I'm going to go for the Impact Whey from MyProtein to speed my metabolism up in the morning and have one after the gym session.
I'm doing more and more weight work so speeding up recovery times can only be a good thing!

Well done on being so disciplined. Also well done on your previous thread results (60 days!). I dont see leg work though? I am struggling to keep my diet so clean at weekends I am afraid.I am about 3 weeks into my (very highly motivated) weight loss/bulk up regime consisting of the following -

Thanks, I don't really struggle with weekends to be honest although I will allow for the occasional bad bit of food to pass me
Not doing any leg work at the moment, they're by far the strongest part of me at the moment so getting everything else in line with the legs first then will introduce some leg work!

Through what I have read and a friend who did mens health final and my current trainer thinks it is mad to leave them out regardless due to the size of muscle. Whatever works. I just need to sort out my weekend boozing and junk...Not doing any leg work at the moment, they're by far the strongest part of me at the moment so getting everything else in line with the legs first then will introduce some leg work!

That's interesting, I have a PT session on Wednesday so I'll run it past him!
I think the 5 x 5 does legs every session too when I did it as it is the largest muscle and so the most metabolism gains are there for the taking (by increasing the size)Tyrewrecker said:

Sounds good, maybe I will introduce it then!
Worth a bash. Good luck with your quest. I am 1.5stone down this month and thats with drinking most weekends...It's all SO worth it when you start seeing improvements.
I remember when I couldn't do 2 minutes on the cross trainer!

Yip. The feeling is un-describable in ones mood, work productivity, confidence, alertness. I am just so annoyed at myself I put it off for so long as I used to be very fit/strong a few years back I guess it's too late for regrets and only me can sort it. It's stopped my mid week drinking and a feel good after a strawberry protein shake instead of a beer. It's all SO worth it when you start seeing improvements.
