Happened to me and my wife, two tyres stabbed on caravan at a petrol station, when i stopped on the hard shoulder a car stopped in front and was managed to talk my wife out the car to wave the yellow jacket at the back of the van. fortunatly i sussed what was happening, and locked the car doors. he just left at that point, also lucky that the space saver from the car fitted the caravan!. had friends robbed last year, whilst his wife was paying for fuel someone started messing around at the back of his caravan, when he went to look someone else nicked passports, credit cards etc from the car.

We've been burgled too. My imediate neighbours twice, and a house that backs onto our garden was done at about 2:30 in the afternoon last summer.
I had some garden furniture nicked on a seperate occaision.
My car was also done outside our apartment while it was parked in front of our bedroom window! Smashed side window. Nice.

Things are about to get tougher. Electricity is going to get a big price hike, I read yesterday, and the IVA is going up to 21% at the weekend.

Fortunately I only lived there for a year smile I left not long after someone broke into my house, took the keys to my modified Scooby, picked up the missus' handbag and drove it off at 4am. I still can't work out why I didn't hear it, the thing made your ears bleed normally!

Christ! I used to live there back in 1991. That was the most affluent area of Madrid...looks like things have taken a turn for the worse... frown

Neighbours car Audi A6 stolen but returned last week after covering 12k miles in 2 months. Police says our houses were the first 2 of 10 in Moraleja they hit in at the same time, some included violence. 1 robber caught and was from North Africa (Algerian I think).

I really like Spain for many reasons BUT its a country which is still developing, has some rough edges and civil behavior maturing. Graffiti, dog muck, robbery, car jacking, driving standards, etc I guess every country has its own feel ... good & bad

It's OK, these are all getting steadily introduced into the UK as well by a great deal of the new citizens (and some of the spawn of existing ones), so nobody should feel left out.

Its not all sunshine in blighty either.
Called the police one Sunday morning having found my car radio missing.
Police officer said " check your garden shed as well, a Liverpool gang did your whole street last night".

In keeping with reputation for humour, the car insurance had been removed from the glove box and laid out on the passenger seat hehe

Driven down to various parts of Spain the last 4 summers and never had a problem but taking note to be careful.

Again.. more stories of friends of friends being robbed...

On the motorway N of Barcelona [the whole AP7 from the border to Gibraltar is the same] .. come back to find their car has a punctured tyre.... Distraction robbery...

If at any time you find your tyre has been punctured in a service station, you are about to be robbed. The thieves do not want a fuss or a fight and they are deliberately targeting tourists, especially weak or distracted looking ones.

Likewise, in Barcelona on foot, they are now throwing dye on your clothes, someone points it out, others grab what they can.
