Hi all.
My 997 Gt2 is due for its 4 year major soon and as I know there are other members in the same boat I was wondering what everyone else has been quoted for this?
I called my local OPC earlier to be told its close to £1800.
I know it inolves the major service, spark plugs, brake fluid, check drive belt, replace tyre sealant and includes mobile one top up but the price list I've found on the web brings this all out at circa £1400.
Is there anything else I'm forgetting or am I being bent over a barrel here?
Thanks in advance.

Mine was done last month. Should have been £1500 including spark plugs/brake fluid but as I only bought the car in March they did it at cost, which was nice Out of interest has anyone else had issues with the top mounts? Driver's side on mine creaks like mad after an enthusiastic drive. OPC tech heard it on a test drive and said wait until it gets louder/worse so they can tell exactly what's causing it! Also just noticed a knock coming from the back end on hard left hand turns. Is it normal for suspension components to start failing at 18,000 miles/4 years?

It looks like both should be added! so should be £1500. Looks like the OP has possibly had VAT added again?

I had a top mount and a bush replaced at 8000 miles on the nearside, I had a rattle/knock, not a creak. I always thought the front suspension sounded fragile, even hitting a minor pothole sounded like the struts were going to come up through the wings...wish I had it back though

Thanks for all the replys.
996GT2 - Check my previous posts, The creaking seems to be assosiated with the bearing that sits within the strut itself.
Apparently this is a very common problem that Porsche wont cover under warranty.
Mine were taken off and sent to Bilstein uk who replaced the bearings with the upgraded version FOC. From memory even if the strut needed a complete rebuild they were only £80 or so a side.

I think there are several issues with the front suspension on the 997 GT models. Most centre around the top mounts, but there's clearly an issue with the damper rod bearings as well. Top mount replacement under warranty seems to be OPC dependent, some will field a warranty claim, others won't. I had both replaced under warranty at circa 30K miles on my Gen 997 GT3 earlier this year (not without a battle and in the end getting the supplying dealer involved)

Had the front top mounts replaced under warranty to try cure driver side front suspension noise and steering creak. The steering creak is now gone but the suspension knocking noise remains, despite a second attempt to locate issue. Problem with bearings noted and will discuss again with OPC. P.S. My recent major service was around £1500 with brake fluid.

Thanks for the info all.
As for service prices I was surprised at how cheap mine was at cost, there's a lot of fat in the major service menu price so play them off against each other if you live near two OPCs.

Anyhow having just got off the phone from West London and Mid Sussex there major services do indeed come out at £1698 including everything listed in my origional post - The major service itself including plugs is £1350. I've called Hatfield and am waiting for a call back as there major service is £1550 and doesnt include the drive belt check. air bag check or tire sealent. I think one of these may have been left off my quote yesterday as based on the prices I've just recieved the service would have worked out at £1898. Sorry if I sound like a tight arse but a couple of hundred quid saved isn't too bad for 10 minutes on the phone .

OPCs have to be profitable but there's always room for a deal, I wouldn't take my own oil in like some do but you can quite often get things cheaper just by asking. What kind of mileage are you GT2 lot on then? I've put around 1000 a month on mine since buying it, can't stay out of the bloody thing I heard of a white one recently that's a daily driver with 40k+ on it, well done whoever that is.

Well it saved me close to £400 by just asking so I cannot grumble at that. 20k now, Purchased with 15k in March so about the same as you. Good man who ever that is putting 40k on one!!

Good man who ever that is putting 40k on one!! Apparently there are only 2 meteor grey GT2s. One is on a 08 plate and the other on a 58 plate. If yours is 4 years old, I guess its the 08 plate, which used to be my previous car. I px'd it last year and at the time it had 11k on the clock. That was one hell of a car!

By the book it says its not due for a service until late september but the service indicator is only showing a few hundred miles left so I've booked it in early.
