Rather than do the usual what car thread, i thought i'd put together a bucket list of cars within a certain budget and try them all out. All this Reader's Cars. Normally these requests are for 1 car that fits all and whatever gets suggested gets ignored pretty much. Hopefully this is different.

Keep each car for a couple of months, try not lose any money (ha!) and decide for myself which car(s) fit the bill for me. I'll update this first post with the cars i want to try and then add to the thread as i go.

Sticking to the interesting ones.

So i'm going for a £10k max budget. Had so far :

  • Mr2's
Mk1, Mk2, Mk3
1.6L, 2.0L, 3.0L - 4.2V8 in progress

  • Celica
ST202 SS3

  • Peugeot
205 GTi 1.6, 1.9 and Mi16

  • Mazda
323F 1.5 and Mk1 Mx5 1.8

  • Porsche
928 S4

So on to the List.

  • BEC Kit car - MK Indy or an MEV Atomic
  • Z3MCoupe and possibly Roadster
  • BMW E36/E46 M3
  • Audi S2
  • Subaru Impreza
  • Pulsar GTIR
  • Alfa GTV V6
  • Porsche Boxster
  • Datsun 240Z
  • Honda CRX/Integra
  • Jag XKR
  • Lexus Soarer
  • VX220
  • Classic Mini
  • Mazda RX7
  • Merc SL
  • Nissan 350Z
  • Skyline GTR
  • Porsche 944
  • TVR Chim
  • TVR Cerb
  • Toyota Supra
  • Honda S2K
I reserve the right to remove any car off the list after a couple of test drives if i hate them.

By the end of it all, i know i'll end up buying a 911 biggrin but it'll be a fun journey. Insurance wise i'll have a trader policy so no issues with spending a fortune changing vehicles.

Any suggestions to add to the list gratefully received.

iv done this and come to the end of the list of 10k cars i can think of.

to list a few

porsche 944 s2 cab
lotus elan se turbo
mitisbushi evos
E36 M3
x2 E46 m3's
tvr chim
tvr cerb
vx220 turbo
alpina b10 V8
jag xjr

even tried a 996 C4s for a month or so before selling it on my uncle.
and there have been meny more. TBH ive gone over a bit once going up to £11k.

all have the pros and cons my fav's being the E46's and the cerb but in the end you still feel like a change and just want to be able to spend more.

i fancy a somthing diffrent from the M3 but the only stuff i fancy is way out of reach. (but its always good to have a gole)

umm E60 M5 or 996 turbo best get saving (alot)

im sure you'll have fun trying stuff out though like you say the trick is not to lose a lot of cash / try to make a small profit if you can.

Nice list, can't wait to see how this goes smile I'd say the kit car, VX220 and Mini will be the ones that really stand out. Whether that's for the right reasons or not depends on your preferences!

cry!

Are you getting something nice to replace it with? Would love a vx220 to follow the MX5 when funds allow!

I've driven a few S1 Elises. I do like them but i think i'd rather own the VX220 for a bit.

Nothing wafty for this, fun hoonable cars only.

Swung for the 944 and missed slightly. Getting an inspection done on it's beefier brother this week.

Noisy (well it will be) way to start the £10k run.

If you ever want to try the Impreza without needing to buy first just give me a shout.

I am in a similar frame of mind just now.
Can't decide whether to keep it cheap and enjoy something paid in cash or stick a bit on % and get an E90 M3 or 996 or......

Nice one, cheers man.

Are you using it daily at the minute? Weekend and 1 night a week is my max at the minute. It just makes more sense to have fun while you can.

Daily just now but, hoping to get in on some car sharing as the £270 on fuel in first 2 weeks of job was a bit scary.
If you are free on a Sunday afternoon/evening give me a shout and pop through.
