This was one damn complicated landing sequence, I am pleasantly surprised it all went off well. Great job folks!

I've been enjoying following this story, it's a bit hidden under all the Olympic news of course.

If you're on twitter you can follow the Rover itself (although I have a sneaking feeling the tweets are sent from Earth wink ) they've already posted a few pics. Just B&W at the moment, although they've removed the clear dust cover now so you can see a bit more.

I know there have been Rovers before, but such a large one, 1 Tonne I'm told, has to be a hell of a step towards the first manned mission to Mars, I'm reasonably certain I'll see a Man on Mars in my lifetime.

Really? I'd have thought testing that over in Arizona or Nevada would have had some crane action; maybe not.
This rover is different than the previous ones, as was noted earlier, in size. It also has more HD cams and a laser capable of vaporizing a rock and gathering the particles for testing. Cool gadgets! smile

It was the headline news on Radio 4 this morning - ahead of the Olympics. Probably because Britain had such a rotten day on Sunday, only winning two golds and a hatful of Silvers.

It's the choice of words - being nervous is fine and expected, stating that it's unbelievable implies that you didn't believe it would happen!

I know its in the news, the fact a thread appeared in the news section sort gives the game away if no one was aware. Tis why I used small words, meant to symbolise a small hint just in case anyone wanted to look over there whilst not saying do not look here.
