Was being shown this app on a colleagues phone today,

all the planes + routes + info.

Do Helicopters show up on this app or not as viewed all of UK
but none seen.

can understand police or forces not being but others ??

Go for Plane Finder HD.

When i use it, which is quite a lot, it only shows up scheduled flights - no helicopters, police, air ambulance or civilian as far as i can see, or military planes although that would be a surprise if it did show military planes.

Its a great app & its great being able to get geeky with it when it comes to plane heights, speed etc.

Added bonus is that it is a free app!!!

Most General Aviation types in the UK don't have the Mode S 'Extended Squitter' capability - so most private aircraft and light commercial traffic won't show up on Plane Finder and similar applications, even if they have a Mode-S transponder.

I would guess you might be able to see the helicopters out to the rigs as some of their southern cousins have the right equipment. Also depends where there is a base station feeding the website. Most modern airliners have ADSB but not all of them.

cheers guys

seems a shame not to see "everything" , what with modern day technology and all.

I've seen some of the oil platform helicopters show up in FlightRadar24 but can't say I've seen then on Planefinder

All I would add is stick to the standard Plane Finder, and not Plane Finder AR (Augmented Reality), which is not particularly accurate and a bit gimicky, whereas standard plane finder is much easier to use, from my experience.

This will show you almost everything including military, biz jets and airliners which dont transmit position info e.g. Embraers, DHC8, anything Russian made...

Windows only and needs a modest annual sub for MLAT which gives you the extra bits
