This is a thought I'v had on and off for a while and now brought into focus a little more following the deaths of two friends from undiagnosed tumours which couldn't be treated in time.
In both cases symptoms had been slight and not in the least lifestyle threatening so nothing was done. When push came to shove nothing could be done and there was no blame attached anywhere.

So what does it cost to havean MRI done privately and is it a good idea? Anyone been there?
They say these things need catching early so surely if its affordable might it be a good idea say every 5 years?

I suppose the obvious caveat is that the chances are they will find something slightly odd and if you are going for the scan you must be prepared to follow it up otherwise what's the point. The vast majority will be nothing but there will be the worry and stress in the interim over something you wouldn't ordinarily have known about.

I've had a few and they cost £900-1500 from memory. Depends how much they scan.

I seem to recall that the issue here is that unless you know to be looking for something in particular, scans can be a bit vague for anything other than the big and obvious.

Best case they find nothing, neutral they find something they can treat, worst case they find something that is an untreatable timebomb.
