I read a thing on the BBC website and became upset by the premise. Yes, there are a lot of publicly educated people in the Tory party (just over half IIRC), but the allegedly socialist Labour party at 15% still has more than double the rate in the general population at 7%. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-19167590BBC in "Going to the best schools sets up young people for a successful life" shocker...

What a bunch of plonkers.
There was a time when OUCA & CUCA had huge influence in opening doors to the Conservative Party.
Not really so much any more, looking at the 2010 intake the majority are normal people.
Looking at who is getting places interning and as assistants, then it is a definite shift away from the old type.

I didn't see this, but but do we want 'men from the street' running the country?
I'm really not sure why a PM has to be Joe Average from da streets.

We do want people who are vaguely in touch with the real world though... Honestly, if you'd seen it you would know what I mean!

I couldn't work out if he was being serious when he was on about buying biscuits being important. I watched the history of the chat show over on BBC4 after this, and they showed an early interview with Cameron and Andrew Neil, and boy, were there similarities in the mannerisms and language to many of those that featured in the show tonight.

I couldn't work out if he is a total spack or just mad. Seriously, WTF.

The kiddy from OUCA with the glaringly obvious sense of shame about his childhood complex was Chris Evans on Oestrogen. The other one. Child wanting to be a man a bit too quickish for his own good.

Although that style was invented by Blair and it worked so well (ie fooled so many people) that now they all have to do it. Essentially, to get elected, politicians have to appeal to the most people - so they will say whatever is required to get the most votes. That's not the right way to get the best man for the job nor run the country. But that is modern 'democracy' and as long as people vote for who will give them the most benefits, or who has the nicest harircut, we are up s t creek.

The inherent bias in the programme is pretty disgusting IMO. Why can't the BBC make another program for balance, called, " Young, chippy and on the left?"

Cheese, biscuits and port probably accounts for 90% of their budget, and has a considerable opportunity for initiative in finding better quality and better priced supplies, so I can see how it is quite a good thing to get into.
