I am about to get back on a road bike after a couple of decades away. I have been riding a trail/mountain bike on and off in between but decided I would like to get out regularly on some longer road runs. At the moment I have narrowed the search down to the following bikes and would appreciate any opinions (or logical additions) before I pull the trigger. The decision needs to be made quickly as I have been looking for weeks and now running out of patience.

1)Felt Z6 Tiagra 2012
2)Scott CR1 Comp 2012
3)Mekk Poggio 2012
4)Giant Defy Composite 2 2012
5)Cube Agree GTC Compact

To make it easier assume all of them can be had for roughly the same price.
Thanks in advance.

The odd two out there appear to be the Mekk and the Cube. All of the others have a more upright riding position which is probably better if you are not used to a low position.

You really need to test ride each and see which you prefer.

+1 - if you have been riding MTB's for a few years you will be more than aware how important fit and setup is!

I went from years of MTB-ing to a Felt F75, great bike but quite aggressive geo and quite light by comparison with what I was used to - so took a while to get used to its 'twitchyness' and being very low on the bars.

Well that narrows the field because I definitely prefer the more upright stance. Two down and two to go, I will be getting on the Giant this afternoon.
