We are expecting our first child in 6 weeks (all being well).

Having done a search, it seems either a recaro start or a proper tvr seat are the only 2 options avaiable if I want to get our baby into the cerb.

Do I need some sort of cerb specific bar to fit both or just if I am lucky enough to find a tvr car seat?

Does anyone have a tvr or recaro seat and bar they would like to sell?

Any help or advice would be appreciated

Hi, I had a TVR seat and decided to sell it on. I replaced it with a recaro start which works pretty well as I heard it was the only seat that would fit.

However I recently saw a Janes Monte Carlo R1 fitted in a Porsche 997 which I bought for our Volvo V70 which also fits in the Cerbera. This is Isofix but it also fits in the Cerbera. There is another Montecarlo seat without Isofix that would work better.

I still have the Recaro Start but just to let you know there is another option to consider. It has really good head support as well.

Don't forget you won't need a forward facing seat for at least 2 years, plenty of time to find one :-)

I thought it was around 6 months when the baby got to 20 pounds as long as the restraining system fits correctly ( as in baby is big enough). I am obviously new to this and am happy to be corrected.

Yea maybe 2 yrs is a bit of an exaggeration, I think 9 months or so is nearer the mark.

Yup. It's based on a combo of weight, age and development and is ultimately quite subjective and probably better to err on the side of caution.

You can start from 6 months/9kg.

I've got a TVR baby seat in grey/blue you're welcome to borrow until you can find what you're looking for. Drop me an email if you'd like it.

I've got a recaro start and the impact cushion that I don't need any more. No-longer have the Cerb and by the time I get another one (which I WILL) my girls will be too big for it. You're welcome to have them for nothing as they're in the way a bit now anyway.

Let me know,

Olly

If you're going to strap kids to posts you might as well just gaffer tape them to the roof while the weather is good. biggrin

Hi Tom, I have taken Olly up on his offer of the recaro start so wont need your kind offer of the loan seat. However, if someone does have a cream leather tvr seat they want to part with, please let me know!

Fairly soon after getting the babyseat working in the Triumph I parked in Asda car park and was just getting out when the husband in a family getting out of the euro box next to me pointed at my car and said indignantly to his wife 'See you can get a baby seat in a sports car'

yikes Ohh much too soon I´m afraid;). They are better off in a rearfacing seat for physical reasons until they are 4 years old. Their bones are underdeveloped, organ tissue likewise. The head is large and heavy at app 25% the total bodyweight. From memory that is roughly 30% of total body weight for a 6 month old. The neck is weak but is the part that stops the head when it propells fast forward. That movement can cause the neck to overstrecth and cause injuries there - the last place you want a child to be injured.

The law is about to change in this area, from 9 kg to 15 months minimum.

Hi all,

I'm new to Piston Heads. Well, I've been browsing the classifieds and reading articles for years but only signed up recently and this is my first post here.

I'm soon to begin TVR shopping and I'm fairly set on a 4.5 Cerbera. I have 2 young girls however so child seats are on my shopping list. I don't want second hand seats from anyone I don't know and trust, and most of the Recaro Start recommendations on here are years old and the current models look fairly chunky. I'm quite interested in the Jane Montecarlo R1 recommendation in this thread and wondered if anyone had photos of either this seat or the current Recaro seat in the car?

I'll be buying two, unless the older one's Britax will fit which I doubt as it's pretty substantial. My elder daughter will be 3 years old by the time we get the car, and the younger will be 1 year old (although the younger is big for her age and well developed). We need to get at least one seat imminently because the younger is now at the limits of her rear-facing stage 1 seat and has her knees up round her ears. We've got a pair of Jags at the moment which we'll be keeping so any seats would work at the moment, but we'd much prefer to buy seats which will also fit the Cerbera.
