Hi,
I've just had my decking cleaned, bare wood now. So, should I treat it with something? Oil or a stain? What's best? Or should I leave it as it is?
Thanks,
Dan

I've had my decking down for about 7 years now, always been happy with using decking oil.
It's easy to apply, I use a brush but have tried a paint pad and decking sprayer ( which I found crap) in the past.
I've used Ronseal decking oil for the past 2 years and it's worked well.

It does say it takes 24-48 hours to dry though. Looks great and gives a really nice colour. The oil looks like it should last a long time.

Does oil actualy soak in or does it sit on top like a paint. I want to treat my deck, but not with something that flakes or peels with wear.

It soaks into the wood, gives it a slightly darker colour and preserves it. Doesn't actually paint it, like stain. I think you have to make sure you don't put on too much oil, as it will only soak in so much.
