Rick Shapiro (I'll be surprised if he's still alive in six months) What a f ktard junkie! Saw him along with a few other dreadful acts at "Best of the Fest" at the Assembly Hall (mound). In the end all the audience had to boo him off - felt like leaving. Just read his Wiki - seems he's just had a 'cardic event' so that might explain him shaking like heroin addict, but it might have just been the heroin...

I'll be honest - I bought the tickets because I thought he was someone else as he looks like another comedian who is pretty good. However - he was crud. We left after 15 minutes and he didn't even notice, then 20 people followed us out. I know it's not in the spirit of the Fringe but I will be requesting a refund. Not even because he wasn't funny - he was incoherent and needs to be back in hospital.

Toby Hadoke matinee was good for any age audience as long as they liked Dr Who (but then, they'd have been stupid to go to a show called My Stepson Stole My Sonic Screwdriver if they hated Dr Who); only criticism was that the anger-shouting bit of comedy got a bit repetitive in the second half. Better than a lot of more famous stand-ups, though. Great to just wander round and see famous people wandering around like 'normal' people, Tim Vine for one. Also happened across The Blanks www.theblankswebsite.com

I'll list the good ones only!
Tom Thum - amazing beatboxer. Main Udderbelly 6:45
Simon Munnery - His best show in ages. The Stand 3:45
"Nothing is really difficult" - crazy Dutch guys. They were doing dad dancing and making personalised flyers from plywood with a jigsaw. Going on Thursday - George Square thrice daily.
The Gentleman Rhymer - "Chap Hop" - Hip-Hop in the Queen's English - Voodoo Rooms 8:00

The Gentleman Rhymer - "Chap Hop" - Hip-Hop in the Queen's English - Voodoo Rooms 8:00 That sounds like our cup of tea! Thanks. For anyone that doesn't already use it, the EdFringe app (Android and iOS) is pretty damn good. You can purchase tickets, get a map of where the venues are, and see what's on 2-for-1 each day etc.

Obviously getting out and about - free publicity!

And we saw Alan Davies in the newsagent in Stockbridge I saw him 2 years ago on the last night of the months stint at the fringe,- and he was unfortunately pretty poor. He really struggled to keep things flowing and just seemed tired and lacking enthusiasm. Didn't see him at the Foodies though, as I was so busy working on my stall.

Just to confirm a few things already mentioned: - The Blanks are very good indeed (comedy and acapella songs, from Scrubs on the telly).
- Stephen K Amos is indeed still black and still telling everybody.
- Mr B The Gentleman Rhymer is a bloomin’ national treasure and highly recommended.
- The EdFringe iPhone app is really rather useful.
I’ll add that Susan Calman’s new solo show is excellent. Very Glaswegian, very funny, and with an unexpectedly emotional ending.

Sammy J and Randy - excellent. Having seen them the last couple of years they were the only show I made a point of making the effort to go and see again.
Tubular Bells for Two - very very good...assuming you want to hear all of Tubular Bells played pretty much exactly as the record by just 2 guys and lots of instruments. Comedy it aint, but a very good live performance....allbeit they're using some 'tape loops' here and there.

Not quite Fringe but I went to the Tattoo last night.
Top Secret Drummers from Switzerland were just stunning, the rest of it was really good as well.
Definately one for the bucket list if you haven't been.

Definately one for the bucket list if you haven't been. I used to live in Ramsay Garden at the top of the Royal Mile. Was inside the security cordon for the Tattoo and one of the grandstands was in the back garden. Pretty cool, but by the end of August it began to feel like too much of a good thing...
