Took a gentleman out in my new Continental GT yesterday. He reciprocated by taking me out in his 250 SWB (yes a real one, not a rebodied car). Just when I thought it couldnt get any better he asked me if I wanted to drive it. So this weekend I did 15 miles behind the wheel of a 250 SWB. I am the happiest person in Pistondom...

amazing, but to be honest i am still trying to separate out the "i cant believe i am driving this" feeling from the "whats the car really like to drive" feelings...probably best to ask in a couple of weeks.

Faster than I expected, very light, nicely balanced, noisy, very small cockpit, lovely mechanical action on the (4 speed) gearchange. Very long gears, simply sublime.

Whole - lee - sheet.

One of my all time favourite cars, there is nothing that looks better and the drive - oh, the drive. Well, good to hear it drives like it should.

my favourite film of course, if i had a pound for everytime i'd watched it i could probaly afford to buy the swb!!! now that the three day cooling off period has passed i am pleased to report that the driving experience was definitely incredible for such an old car, the gearchange in particular just sticks in the mind for being such a wondefully mechanical action. keep working...
