no mention of Edward Green ? best of the (kind of)sensibly priced bunch for me. I am big fan of Cheaney (now independent again and not part of the prada / church setup) and Loake also.
There are even more to mention if you wanted a complete list.I think some of the best looking shoes are by Alfred Sargent. There is Jeffery West too for something a bit different.

Yours look a different shape and colour from the ones in the link. Yours look wider toed and more tan.
The colour looks different depending on whether the flash goes off or not. Plus, they have had a few layers of cream/polish by now. This is a natural pic taken of them when I first got them home

Northampton. Am I looking for a big shed with all the big makers or do I need to plan a tour of various factories/shops dotted around the town?
Each of the factories has it's own factory shop, so you need to tour around. The shops tend to be end of line or slight seconds and may be stamped as "imperfect" or "Subs". The imperfections can be very minor though.Be advised that the shops may only be open on certain days and for a few hours only. For example, Trickers shop isn't open on a Saturday.
This picture tell you everything you need to know.
ETA: Don't have your heat set on getting any particular shoe. It all depends on what they have on on the day you arrive. By far the biggest factory shop was Barkers. Many options in each size and width fitting.

Found something decent from a smart casual point of view
Jack & Jones suede desert boots, in blue and a grey colour
Also got these Lambretta Carnaby suede desert boots
Hopefully should tide me over for a while.
With regards to the J&J boots, silly question perhaps but how is it best to lace them up? Most of the photos I see with only 2 eyelets do not have the bow exposed.

Almost feels wrong to post here, hardly a proper shoes.
We need a dedicated forum/thread strictly for the trainers.
