Hoofy said: Most people underestimate their intake and overestimate their output (or just aren't as committed as you). It isn't helped by some food packaging. For example a well known brand, who sell snacks and nuts etc. have adhered nicely to the requirements of telling people how many calories are in their Jumbo cashew nuts. The problem is, the figure that you see (in dirty great print) is actually for 25g (as explained by tiny little print underneath). If you ate the whole bag in one sitting you would be consuming nearly 1200 calories in one hit. The whole 'tell 'em how many calories your food has' rule needs to be tightened up IMHO.

Gwagon111 said: You carry on the good work there. If you want to lose more than a couple of grams per decade you'll have to lower your calorie intake, and cut out the booze. Funny I would consider a stone in just over 8 weeks not too bad but maybe i'll take your advice or I'll just ignore it and carry on with what I'm doing.

Gwagon111 said: 5 weeks is a very short time frame. Starve yourself (no more than 700Kcals a day) do loads of squats, and run. It will hurt, but it should work. I went from a frankly quite powerfully built 6ft 2, 106-110Kgs about a year ago, to a svelt 65Kgs at present. I started the ball rolling with a balanced but (relatively tiny portioned) low cal diet.
6ft 2 and 65kgs sounds painfully thin rather than svelt? It's an interesting thread this, for quality of life I'm liking Paulmon's plan best

You do that if it makes you happy. What I can tell you from experience however, is that unless you now cut your calorie intake by about another 20 or so percent and cut the booze out, and / or increase your excercise, you will plateau very soon, then the weight will creep back on, and you will have wasted all the time and effort you put in. It's your shout.

How about treating yourself of an evening with your diet coke & spirit of choice, instead of downing the cokes during the day? Or, if you can control yourself a smallish glass of red wine (not white).
Also as has been mentioned above have a gander at the Harcombe Diet, which at first glance does seem eminently sensible, and very manageable, with the bonus of potentially losing a reasonable starter chunk of weight over the first 5 days. I am going to give it a shot!

don't say none A little of what you fancy is fine, just be mindful of the calorific content of the various drinks you have. Obviously steer clear of pints of beer and cider where possible, if not possible be mindful of the calories you've just consumed.

don't say none None is the answer, sadly. There are lots of calories in pretty much any booze. http://www.nutracheck.co.uk/calories/calories_in_a...A slimline G&T is about equivalent to a finger of kit-kat. It really isn't that hard to not drink for five weeks.

Yeah, but if you can stop. I recall a budweiser (bottle) was a 1.5 points, and there was a local beer which was either 1.5 points or 1 point.

Im currently trying to lose weight (well flab, belly and handles) too, using an iphone app, ive dropped my calorie intake to 1200 a day, cut out carbs (as much as possbile, still having fruit etc but avoiding pasta, bread and potatoes)
run/walk every other day and doing some strength and core exercises too.
My goal is to try to get a 6 pack and general look trim similar to a jason stratham type look, would i need to drop my calorie intake lower or will ramping up my cardio surfice in a few weeks?
