Would anyone be interested in meeting up again for a re-run, before the passes close for winter?

Perhaps 1st/15th or 22nd September?

Possibly, but am very busy through to November. 15th looks as good as any but I'd need to be back home for an evening party.

Based on feedback so far, it appears to be 15th September or nothing.

A bit light on replies so far...is everyone still on vacation? smile

I'd be up for another drive, on holiday on 15th tho.
Later in Sept would be better, when do the passes usually close?

When the snow arrives and depending on the weather conditions. Certain passes will close around mid to end october (the higher altitude ones first).

Can we start a wee bitty later as I've at least 2 hrs drive to get to the "start line"? The light will limit us as well!!!!!

Just spoke to my chauffeur (currently ohne Auto). We can do the 22nd.
Eta: Scrap that sorry - just realised it's the Greifenseelauf that day.

I've got a day-pass for the 15th, which is now even more appealing as my mother-in-law has announced she is coming to stay that weekend.

I still have a party in the evening though. I can do a run in the mountains but would also up for a trip around the Black Forest.

Reading the Tagi this morning I see that some of the passes have been closed because of snow! Perhaps we have already left it too late.

A quick snap from the top of Nufenen yesterday...

And this was Grimsel, a little way into the descent...

Not a particularly relaxing or enjoyable jaunt!

yikes

We did talk about doing a Black Forest blast, would that be an alternate?

I drove the Nufenen south this afternoon... It was just perfect! No snow, no traffic, no cyclists, no camping cars, just a perfect NIRVANA. I imagine this will be like this for a couple more weeks until winter closure. I managed to cook my brakes however on the way down eek I stopped on the way down to pay a visit to "Mother Nature" and the front brakes were smoking like a WRC after a special stage biggrin Took things easy after that for a couple of kms and everything is fine again. I think I will be needing to look for better pads. I am using EPC yellows for the moment.

Just spotted an advert (on Facebook!)- looks like it is the Red Bull Toeffli day on Saturday 15th- those of you that remember the 2011 hoon on the saturday may recall hundreds of chicken chasers filling up the passes! SUggest that if we do make plkans, we do a black forest run.
Unfortunately I'm probably doubtful now, as my car has decided to spring a leak (cracked coolant expansion tank I think)- waiting to hear from the garage to hear when they have the time to repair it...

Plenty of good roads. And cars to drive on them tongue out
