I've developed a twitching eyelid.

It's the bottom right one and as much as it makes people think twice about handing me any more work, it's beginning to annoy me.

Any ideas what it might be? I also get a trapped nerve type thing in my right ear which is horrendously painful.

Are the 2 connected?

Cheers,
Michael Douglas

It's usually a sign of tiredness (eyelid twitch) Get some proper sleep for a while. Mine do it if I don't sleep enough.

I get it all the time- lack of sleep, dehydration or to much caffeine are usually the cause in my case.

I had this when going through a particularly stressful, erm, personal episode...

Basically, she was a bit of a c*nt but had the best ti...

You know.

Point is soon as that 'episode' was over and done, the twitchy eye thing went away.

Put it down to underlying stress.

A good way to keep it at bay is to tell whoever you're with about it and that you'll show them when it starts happening. That way, as long as you're around that person, it won't happen.

Don't drink tea or coffee. Started drinking diet coke in work rather than normal coke to try and keep the weight down.

Sleep pretty well 7-8 hrs a night.

Things fine with missus, money matters in order, job security not an issue. Really don't see how it could be stress related.

Think the ear and eye thing are related? I've got 2 teeth growing at a funny angle, one each side on the upper jaw. Getting them removed soon, could they be connected?

Thanks PhysicianHeads.

Tiredness. Had it many times when doing an early shift. Get some decent kip in, you'll be fine.

Got it right now in my right bottom eyelid. Had it in my left for the last few weeks but it switched a few days ago. Currently under quite a bit of pressure at work and going to bed far too late too, so only getting five or so hours sleep each night. Looked it up myself and got the same information as everyone else is turning up here - tiredness and stress - in fact just a few minutes before I saw this topic my eye was having a good old twitch and I thought to myself "at least I know what the cause is if anyone on PH asks"! Anyway, it's harmless and goes away if you take away the causes.

Diet coke still has caffiene in doesn't it?

Might just be that your activity level means your body wants a bit more than 7 hours sleep in a night, I've gone from being able to manage on 4 or 5 as a teenager to needing an absolute minimum of 9 in my late 20s.

Is it worse later in the day?

I've had it for about a week at the moment.

I had a period a few years ago where the twitch was nearly constant (as in every few minutes, all day) for about 2-3 months. Got pretty used to it by the time it decided to stop!
