Ok, so in April next year it is mine & SWMBO's 1st wedding anniversary & 10 year anniversary of being together, so I'd like to surprise her with a week away somewhere.

We are not particularly well travelled so would welcome suggestions from the PH community. We have spent a lot of time in America, particularly California & Southern Florida which we loved, but would like to give somewhere else a go.

Criteria:

Ideally somewhere hot.
Don't want to sit in a plane for any more than 10hrs.
Budget is around £2k for flights & accommodation.

Exclusions:
Paris & France generally; her parents live in Toulouse & we've done Paris before so not fussed on that.
NYC; got family there so been loads.

Other than that, we are open to offers! Over to you guys!

Safari for 2k? Not possible.

Have you thought about Sri Lanka or Thailand? Should be on budget and beautiful countries with lots of memorable things to do.

We looked at safari for our honeymoon, but the costs were astronomical - way more than £2k for the 2 of us.

Is it worth going all the way to Thailand for a week? It had crossed my mind but I assumed it was far too long a flight to go just for a week?

Thailand is a long way for a week.
LHR-BKK direct and non stop is around 10.5-11.5 hours dependant on time of year and winds. Return is similar, if not more. Also, Thailand can be expensive in the Easter holiday, which fall in April.
You will then want to get to the idslands which will mean a transit stop at BKK, plus another flight. If all goes well, you'll be looking at around 21 hours door to door.

I would imagine that the Middle East is good at that time of year?

Sorry didn't see it was for a week, what about one of the nicer Greek islands? Or even Norway, not to far and very cheap flights but very expensive out there and beautiful.
