Great pic's mate.

Just want to echo your comments. It was first visit to The Hare and I will certainly be back ; )

First time I've turned up alone (Billy no mates this weekend lol) but quickly made friends and spent a couple of hours looking at a wide variety of sexy metal/plastic. Great morning!!!!

Big thanks to the Landlord for setting this up and great food BTW.

Here's to next month.

Lets hope is continues, it's always been a great meeting place and the landlord Gary has been a star. Unfortunately today one of the American old-skool cars showboated away, lost the back end and ended up in the ditch (almost vertical on the nose of the car). Badly cut his head, and ambulance and police called. Not sure what this means, but lets hope it continues without any other incidents, or being closed down by the BiB.

I'm assuming they managed to move the car in the end? Looked a write off after that. I felt so sorry for him all that love and effort into his car then that happens

I witnessed what happened myself.
I hope the guy isn't too badly hurt and the main injury is to car and pride only.

But I have to say, this has been "waiting to happen" for months now.
There is a lot of of showboating from visitors to this meet when they pull out of the car park onto the A1060 to show off to the crowd. It's a fairly blind curve (in either direction), often with lots of parked cars. Sooner or later something very serious is going to happen.

The police have been "onto" this event since last year, mostly for parking related issues and noise complaints from locals, but I fear it'll soon be for dangerous driving. Todays incident may give the police just the ammunition they're looking for to close the meet down.

The Hare meet is a great monthly car meet. I've been going since spring last year. I really hope it continues but I think it's time the showboating was toned down a bit before someone really gets hurt.

Really saddened ( but I guess not surprised ) to read this. The landlord and his staff work really hard to make the meets work and I have thoroughly enjoyed attending them ( to the point where I get withdrawal symptoms in the winter months!). It would be shame if these meets get cancelled because of today's events.

Great pics Dave. thumbup

I'll pop some of my casual snaps up when I get a chance.... not the same standard as yours though unfortunately. rolleyes

A big shame to hear about one of the cars ending up in the ditch. Good to hear the owner was not too badly hurt and I hope the car is repairable. I shouldn't have thought the police would have grounds to stop the meet due to one small incident. Old skool RWD muscle cars are notoriously difficult to keep in a straight, especially when exiting a T junction onto a 60 limit road with a partially restricted view.

Do we know which car it was?

Gutted to hear some one's day was spoilt in that way. Glad to hear he's alright.

Such a shame, I hope he manages to fix it, that certainly is a stunning car.

Yep - it was the big purple beast. I think the guys pride was dented as much as his P&J was. He only got about 100 yards before it all went sideways. Hope he's okay and that everyone keeps this in mind for the next meet and remembers that cars still bite no matter how good you (think you) are.

I feel sorry for Gary, the one who originaly set all this up way back beginning of last year,he put a lot of effort in this, and now I think ,as most said ,BiB will have the Ammo to control this event, they'll probably put speed limits in place, and a nice camera for you all.........................

Pity, as I think this has run its course.......and now attracts a wider audience.....started out as a supercar meet, now almost a modified car meet.................Hey Ho time will tell.

I wouldn't have thought that one incident like this would give them the ammo to control the meet in any way. Yes they will probably come along and enforce parking restrictions and even have a covert car or camera nearby but I'm sure the meet will be able to continue.

Will just have to take care entering and leaving the so that Gary doesn't get any bother about anti social behaviour on his property.

Was my first time visiting this meet as not been able to make one before this summer and only discovered it was on this year. Use that road quite a bit and had stopped with the family for lunch at The Hare a few times not realising the car meet takes place!

I was in the white Lotus parked in the main pub car park. Was good to meet some new people and a great stamp of cars there. Didn't meet Gary but hats off to him for putting the event on and the free coffee and cakes.

I left before the incident but a real shame to hear that happened. The pub is situated on a bit of a horrible bend though. Reminds me of the bike meetings I used to go to 15 years ago at the White Bear near Ongar. Same blind bend with people showboating as they left or turning around up the road to showboat back past. Pretty sure there were quite a few accidents there that closed that one down in the end??

Anyways, hope this one goes on in the future.

Hi Colin, I was at the Hare but I came down in the daily and parked around the corner. I saw Tony and his Tuscan 2 but I didn't see you or your car?

The blue ragtop in the first photo - is that a late 30's Buick - saw that for the first time Saturday (it must have been returning from the Hare meeting) it turned in to a close just up the road from me - anyone know who the owner is?
