just watching a program about the uss ronald reagan. wow.
its bloody huge, these aircraft carriers really are amazing bits of kit.
when they dropped anchor, i culdn't believe the size of the chain eek

And they in turn can be dwarfed by some of the big oil tankers.

Very impressive engineering though, here's a pic build log of one of our carriers currently being built.

70,000t overall weight once its finished so lots of 600t bits to go.

Depends how you count it, the large oil tankers don't actually have much more steel in them than the US Super Carriers. Most of the mass of the oil tankers is unsurprisingly oil.

These new floating production platforms on the other hand are truly massive.
