I cycle and I don't get the blasé approach to vehicles that weigh 300 plus times what you do, there are a lot more cyclists in London and a lot are actually just trendy poseurs, all hurrying like they are on a life and death mission when in actual fact the rushing is for effect, rather than a desperate need to save thirty seconds, like the rest of the capital, everything seems to be like a Benny Hill sketch, it kind of works but not quite. What's that phrase, more haste, less speed, it is easier to make good time on a given journey on a bike then not smeared down the side of a Bus or being untangled from the suspension of an HGV, basically just keep the f k away from HGVs, assume they havent seen you, assume every driver is a coked up Polish one that has just driven non stop from Warsaw and is watching porn on a laptop, realise you can still be in the right legally when getting up close and personal with the leaf springs of a Scania.

Pretty routine for Old Street. A woman got squashed under a cement truck at the next junction not that long ago.

Some people shouldn't be allowed out in public unaccompanied. Many of them ride bikes or drive cars.

Drove thru London Monday teatime from east (Ilford) to west (Hammersmith and beyond) and was staggered by (a) the number of traffic lights, and their tendency to be on red for an awful lot of the time – I thought that Livingstone legacy had been squished by Boris, but obviously not; and (b) the hordes of cyclists riding aggressively and (it seemed to me) often quite recklessly. As someone earlier said, the big blue bike lanes they've been given are apparently not wide enough for the Wiggo wannabes who are clearly impeding motorised traffic trying to make progress.

I'm a keen cyclist but I imagine I'd soon get hacked off with the downright dangerous riding that seems to be prevalent in London.

I find it much better for my general happiness on the roads if I assume everyone is an idiot. Then the rare instances of good road manners make me smile, the common instances of crap road use just meet expectations.
Why expect everyone to be competent on the roads when most people evidently aren't? That way lies road rage and high blood pressure.

I have recently (in the last few months) started cycling to work and back each day - admittedly mostly on cycle paths, but a little bit on the road. I have never jumped a red light or put myself in danger with any other vehicles, although I often see others do so. For example, whilst driving along a stretch of road a few months ago in my MG I encountered about 5 cyclists - as I approached there were two cycling together, followed by a substantial gap, and then the other three. I waited at a distance while going through a series of bends and when the road straightened out I overtook the rear two and went into the gap, awaiting another straight not much further on. As I was driving along one of the cyclists I had just overtaken decided that he now wanted to go a bit faster, caught up with me and began cycling alongside my car as I was going through some blind bends. I couldn't quite believe it and fortunately the road soon cleared so I could make it past the others.
Also, a car cut me up the other day and an oncoming van went around a corner on my side of the road. Idiots exist on and in all forms of transport.

Papa Hotel said: Cyclists, eh? Bunch of f king cocks. I'll bet that hippy t t doesn't even pay road tax! I agree. They must be killed. f kers. But then, so should everyone who pays less road tax than me. They are also filth. I am far superior. In fact, anyone who pays less tax than me full stop must be executed. I know my rights and I'm very important. Roads were built for me and me alone.
