“Apalling”

Disgusting food & even worse customer service. I have never been treated soo badly. I was screamed at by the 'manager' because i didn't tell them when I placed my order online I was using a avoucher. The fact that I did makes it even worse. NEVER AGAIN The place needs to be shut down

“Ready-Meal Food...”

Ready-meal food which is simply terrible. Basically paid £10 for a ready-meal and have enjoyed better quality ones from Iceland for £1. I was skeptical when I ordered and sat down to wait but couldn't hear any food preparation being done. Just microwaves.

I think the dog food duo will come to regret their decision. The 'free advertising' will only go so far and as it is often said giving away equity and having a lower share of a profit making company is a lot better than having full equity in a company making a lot less profit.

Oh and Annie the cereal lady was rather nice smile

I've no idea how Piers Linney has any credibility on this show.

His track record is appalling.

I work in IT and have done many large scale outsource and cloud migration projects and have never heard of him nor his company.

From their website they just seem to be doing what umpteen other consultants in the same space are doing so I'm not sure why the BBC big him up as some sort of IT guru. He's just the only one with an ego too big for his office that he has agreed to appear on various ego-fuelling TV shows whereas all the others keep their heads down and concentrate on running their businesses.

Debs didn't seem too impressed with his behaviour at the end of tonight's show and I'd agree with her.

I would imagine, the BBC big him up, because he is the one that they have as a dragon.

Indeed.

However, the point being made was that his previous business record does not stand up to scrutiny.

I thought the dog food guys were crazy to turn two Dragons down. Will be interesting to see how they fare alone.

I have a gut feeling that Spoon, the breakfast cereal company, will probably be a great success, but I personally struggle to see what their USP is, are they aimed at those whose life is too busy to go to a supermarket?

They are already in Harvey Nichols, start at the bottom! http://www.harveynichols.com/news/2014/07/27/spoon...

This did make me laugh "Founded after muesli and granola addict, Annie Morris, struggled to find a decent, freshly-made bowl of cereal on her way to work

Are people really that busy they can't make it themselves? I liked the look of the product but would struggle to buy it. I have made-up-at-home granola and yoghurt at my desk every day but don't really see the problem in buying a box of Dorset Cereals from Waitrose that last me two weeks and lobbing a dollop of Onken in it before I leave home in the morning.

this spice2go bloke must have had some AMAZING locations for his dominos franchises that made him rich, because it wasn't his business sense or ideas that did!

What's he got that countless other Indian restaurant/takeaway chains don't already have. If he's centrally cooking all the food he may as well just go into the readymeal business, as that's what his takeaways will taste like.

Factoring in all the usual stuff about artistic TV license (relatively telegenic pitchers preferred) and later-stage financial-investor Dragons (want my money back in a year), Dragons' Den is a deeply depressing insight into the British economy.

It is all "low-growth mature markets, weak financial skills, and poorly thought-out products / packaging / branding / marketing".

All obvious stuff like food, drink, toys, etc. etc.

Very little innovation in the way of high-growth e-businesses, m-businesses, software, eco-products, clean energy, quantum computing, etc.

I presume the truly innovative stuff manages to find investment through normal channels and doesn't resort to Dragon's Den. Also, this was probably filmed 6-9 months ago so doesn't really show today's state of play.

If they had a show with a new semi-conductor business, a revolutionary polymer invention, a factory cleaning business, Recruitment consultancy, Linux programmer online resources e-business and a research funding brokerage the viewing figures would fall off a cliff. The dragons will therefore always be offered only "opportunities" that Joe Public understands and finds interesting, which form a small percentage of all businesses.

Yep - its entertainment not business and probably always was but now its solid veneer - pity.

I think it has run its course to be honest. Much like the Apprentice, it's just light entertainment.

Proper business programs are, I would think, a bit too niche for mainstream TV and they'd get poor viewing figures.

Don't make the mistake of judging his financial performance by the companies financial performance, he may have milked it as many do.

My mate was on it a few years back and it really did a great free job of marketing his product, he accepted Jonesys offer but didn't go through with it after seeing how he operated.

Not in a nice way in this particular case, I suppose you only get to the top by being ruthless.
