That ride looks like fun! Pity it's so far away.

I'm afraid if I take part that it won't be on a retro racer. Should still be fun though!!

That's stunning, right I've found 2 retro shops and 1 vintage, I'm 6ft 2 roughly what frame size would I need?
My other half won't believe it when I tell her I've now bought a road bike.....(won't mention its retro and if I enjoy this I'll buy a decent road bike!)
Entering this event after bike purchase made.

Ollerton57 said: That looks great! Agreed certainly does, I've entered the ride but still haven't got a road bike, any recommendations to where to look for a retro racer? I'd really like a Raleigh Milk Race.

I could sell a Carlton Corsair, in pretty good nick with lots of original bits on it but 2 very new tyres. It was one of the top bikes of its day I think, Reynolds 531 tubing and a lovely thing to ride. Looks just like this: http://freespace.virgin.net/stones.ukp/carlton.gifThe bottom inch or so of the front mudguard has snapped off, but I still have it and it could be glued back on I am sure, and it needs a couple of eyelets for the mudguards fitted. I'm around 5'10" and it is fine for me and would suit someone a bit bigger too I think. Mechanically in great nick but I no longer need it for what I used it for so it isn't being used, and it deserves to be. Hope this doesn't breach ad rules, just the fact it might answer some PH query on here. Or maybe I do the century ride and flog it there?!

That looks awesome and Greenwich is on my doorstep. Sadly, I only have a modern road bike.
I've never done more the 30 miles in one go before (which took me 1hr 40m). I do 8 miles each way to and from work in the City which takes me 25 mins and have been doing this pretty much day in and day out for the last two years. Do you think my fitness will be up to 100 miles in one go?

I say this as I had only ridden one 30 mile + ride and managed the Dunwich Dynamo.. This is also flat..sounds like a fun night out. :-)

Unlike the Dun run ( which is my favourite ride of the year) this one is fully supported. Am sure I saw mention of food stops every 15 miles and mechanics on hand. A couple of pints followed by an awesome night. PS I've just paid, I'm in

Very tempting. But it's fifty notes and I think I should do more night riding first.

Always an excuse isn't there. Dun run was free, went past your door and you still managed to find an excuse for ducking that as well. A night ride is like a day one, just with the lights turned down a little.

...and I've hardly done any proper riding in the last month.
Did I mention that the dog ate it?
Er...

Just registered.
Something to keep me focused as the nights start to get colder.
I'm also doing it on a modern bike, but it looked too good to miss. Incidentally the vineyard is right beside me.
