It’s less than two weeks away to the big fifty years of Harewood Hill Climb celebrations. It will be a fantastic weekend for all. Harewood is a great venue for watching and participating in motorsport and the fiftieth weekend will be a very special event.
Harewood Hill Climb Golden Jubilee Weekend of Speed Hill Climbing. This weekend marks 50 years of speed hill climb competition at the Stockton Farm course. In addition to two competitive events on the Saturday and Sunday, there will be demonstration runs by 20 cars which have been significant in the early years of the event. Among these are three championship winning cars from the 1960's and one from the 1970's. The Ferguson Climax P99 4 wheel drive car which was raced by Stirling Moss and which won the British Hill Climb Championship in 1964 driven by Peter Westbury will be there. So will Peter who will travel from his home in the Caribbean to meet up with the Ferguson again. There will be displays of classic cars, activities for children and the Variety Club will be there. Practice on both days from 09:00 with competitive runs from approx 14:00. Runs by the invited historic cars will be at approx.12:00 & 13:30 on each day. Admission £10 on the day or at a discount when booked via the ticket website. Accompanied children 12 & under free. Parking free. Stockton Farm, The Avenue, Harewood, Leeds West Yorkshire LS17 9LA

If Trevor Willis doesn't get FTD I will eat a hat Harewood always seems to generate a varied entry list, only been up there twice this year unfortunately. The battle between Paul Martin and Steve Darley is always good to watch. Good to see Amy Tomlin is back on the entry list as I haven't seen her on one since her crash at Loton I don't think. May have to try and get up to Yorkshire for this You going to be at Loton for the final round of the year mate?

Really enjoyed the event actually! The weather sadly worsened as the day went on, but there was some heroic runs in the wet!
Richard Spedding got FTD IIRC? (Trevor Willis wasn't competing on the Sunday)
The Escort, the 6R4, the alpine etc were all joys to watch, and you don't often see cars like that being driven at such speed anywhere else. The battle between the big Evo and the yellow Imprezza was as impressive as usual. Also a big big heads up to the trials car people, who were letting people try out their sport for 2 pound per person! Had great fun trying to drive a Vauxhall Tigra up some very muddy hills! It was nice to meet Peter too, will definitely see you at other events next year - especially if you come all the way down to Loton!

Excellent meeting; especally enjoyed the historic cars. I used to start line marshal in the late 60s and early 70s and have fond memories of push starting F1 and F5000 cars - BT33,BRM P153 and lots of McLaren M10Bs etc. No silencing then - no wonder am half deaf now...Good to talk to Jimmy Johnstone driving Peter Voigt's car- made me feel bloody old as I was doing my A levels then and am retired now,.Was surprised to hear a marshal say that no longer allowed to push start any cars- push starting a DFV engined car was pretty memorable...
Some good driving on display- very quick and lairy Evos and bonkers yellow Impreza. But driver of the day was the guy in the 1300BDA Anglia in maximum attack mode; and Barrie Williams throwing the Elan BRM around- on tarmac , grass , concrete etc. Also loved the sound of the Felday Daimler- bloody animal of a car.
Only black mark as a bunch of idiot youths who found the burden of taking back their coke cans too much so left them on grass at first corner.
Came home to watch GP and after 15 minutes read the papers instead- live motor sport is sooo much better than the bloody telly.
