Point of order. I was at the game last week and the silence was observed impeccably by all those in the ground. Swansea and Chelsea fans. Unfortunately, there were still a large number of fans down below on the concourse making there way in who didn't realise the silence was taking place.

Don't really understand Mourinho's problem at the moment. We lost the game, so what. It was a dodgy penalty but that happens in football. As someone said, we got a dodgy penalty against WBA. That's the way the cookie crumbles.

If we can finish top 3 in the league and CL semi finalists, that's much better than I expected at the start of the season. No complaints from me.
Mourinho's ego is so big that he would have rather lost the league than his unbeaten home record!

When he not behaved like that ? Standard operating procedure....when things don't go his way. I honestly think Chelsea fans look at his behaviour through blue tinted spectacles because of the success Abramovich's outright spending power brought the first time around. Most of them think it's funny and roll out the "taking pressure off the team line".

His and his assistants behaviour on the touch line today were an embrassment and then he follows it up with that press conference.

People go on about Man U not hiring him last summer but nobody else wanted anything to do with him either...yes he's a good manager but for most clubs there's way too much baggage.....and lets not forget Chelsea wanted Guardiola first.

Yeah same here, we have had ups and downs this season, but we have also proved that we can challenge for the title, beat City home and away, beat United, Liverpool once so far and thrashed Arsenal.

Next season is the one to watch, hopefully we can get a PROPER striker, Diego Costa could be our main man next year, and possibly even Lukaku, but I don't want to get too carried away yet...
You beat Liverpool at Stamford Bridge with the benefit of decisions going in your favour. Things balance themselves out - Mourinho is either a genius deflecting attention from the paucity of some of his team's performances or a bad loser - the choice is yours.

Couldn't agree more. As soon as these billionaires get bored, they'll disappear and leave these little clubs in the sts. At least the table will look more the way it should, with clubs like Man City/Chelsea fighting for relegation rather than fighting for champions league spots like they're currently doing.
What a tired old argument. You might want to look at Chelsea before 2004. If you did you would see we were always on the cusp of success and never in danger of relegation. Go on - see for yourself.

The game has changed . New clubs come along with owners who happen to have more money than other incumbents shocker. I really hope you are not a Liverpool fan , as if you were , and you looked at your own history, you'd see a serious relationship between Liverpool winning everything in the 70s/80s and the success of Littlewoods Pools and catalogues. That is because the Moores family , who were the Arabs / Abramovich of their day in a secular UK league were the paymasters who 'bought' all your titles in that era. What a pity we never had the internet back then because, if we did, forums would be accusing that club of the very same thing they accuse Chelsea and Citeh of today,

Don't pretend, for one moment, that in any business money does not talk. The history of the English league has long since been decided on who has the most money. Blackburn, Liverpool in their day, Chelsea, ManU , Citeh could ALL be accused of 'buying' the title. I don't recall a team that hasn't done that, to some degree.

As far as the billionaires getting bored. It's been 10 years now since Abramovish came along. He does not look like he is tired of it all.

Back on topic, and talking in footballing terms along, I reluctantly doff my cap to Liverpool. They play football which is brave, attractive and successful . I doubt they will do it again next year with the Champions League to look at too. I am not a fan of the club and it's ethos, but I like the way they have played the game this year.

Yeah, I was just about to ask the same thing. Be interesting to see a reply to that one.

Having watched MOTD I really do question JM's sanity. His team lost a game of football. The winning goal really was a penalty. His selection and tactics did not work. This happens. Except to him because he's "special."
There are an awful lot of people in state institutions who think that they are special and that the whole world is against them.
Maybe we can begin to see the start of Jose: The 'Sectioned' One!

Poor decisions from the ref. On balance Chelsea can feel hard done by, but they did get out of jail somewhat by the ref missing the Ramires assault incident.

Schwarzer was pretty poor too.

Indeed, although their player had a dig at him just before, and shoved him away from the ball when he had an open goal (and when Terry did the same thing our goal was disallowed). Soft penalty as well - he could see he had nowhere to go and was going to run the ball out so just fell over

Any evidence of Liverpool buying the titles back in the 70's and 80's?
I'm only 24 so I don't have first hand knowledge of seeing Liverpool BUY success. Can only rely on certain transfer websites.

Overall expenditure

67/68 -£107,000. 77/78 -£97,000. 84/85 -£1.75m
68/69 -£180,000. 78/79 -£704,000. 85/86 -£352,000.
69/70 -£51,000. 79/80 -£143,000. 86/87 +3.7m
70/71 -£145,000. 80/81 -£623,000. 87/88 -£4.2m
71/72 -£57,000. 81/82 -£930,000. 88/89 -£88,000.
72/73 -£156,000. 82/83 +£514,000. 89/90 -£2.3m
74/75 -£164,000. 83/84 -£727,000.

Total overall, £8.1m.

Man United's overall transfer expenditure in that time? £14m.

The thing is, whilst we were buying the above players, we were winning the league year after year. Money coming in. We won the European cup in 77 and 78. The 5 years leading upto winning them cups, expenditure = £400k.

So let's not take anything away from Shankley and Paisley ey? beer

Chelsea
03/04 - £150m spent.
04/05 - £140m spent.

Before the money. Won the FA cup in 99/00. League cup 97/98. Uefa cup 97/98.

Man city
07/08 - £60m spent.
08/09 - £115m spent.
09/10 - £100m spent.
10/11 - £127m spent.

Before the money, erm fk all.

Disappointing result for sure. In typical fashion we will probably now go to Anfield and win, but the title will have been lost.

Hopefully no " ghost" goals biggrin

In answer to your first point. Chelsea were in the second division four years before the Premier League was founded.

In answer to your second point. Arsenal....there's been no Sugar Daddy and zero cash injected from shareholders. All bought and paid for by the fans in one way and another. In fact it's been so well run that the board members all made a lot of money selling out to Kronke and Usmanov .....the polar opposite of what you say. I'm not sure Man U have had any injections of cash either.

How can Chelsea feel hard done by? For starters you accept that Chelsea should have played most of the game with 10 men. They conceded a penalty that was at best debatable. They've had softer penalties awarded in your favour in the past.

Ignoring the bks talk above, well played Liverpool. No one would've guessed they would win the league this year and their recent run had been awesome. Today they've got the job done inside 15mins.

For once I agree with jcremonini, I never expected us to win the league this year and 2nd/3rd is a good result. If the CL goes well the who knows? I think Citeh have really blown it with the size and depth of their squad.

I think Suarez 30 goals show what Chelsea is missing. It'll be interesting to see if he stays at Liverpool and interesting to see how they cope with the CL next year.
