Frankly I don't give a toss about whether other fans found the game dull yesterday. Job done, though an away goal would've been better. Minus Hazard our creativity is limited.
Tonight's game demonstrates that sometimes the bus needs to be parked. Bayern have had 75% possession but zero threat. Real may well win and it's good strategy to negate Bayern.
Of the 4 teams left I wanted Chelsea and Real Madrid to go through, with Chelsea to win Tonight's game demonstrates that sometimes the bus needs to be parked. Bayern have had 75% possession but zero threat. Real may well win and it's good strategy to negate Bayern.
I'd say job half done yesterday, it still means that Chelsea HAVE to win. Won't be easy.

Indeed, and lets see what happens when Suarez fks off to a bigger club next season too
I wouldn't post this over there , they get awfully prickly about this inevitability.TwigtheWonderkid said:

I am intrigued how they can make the one on Mourinho stick - guilty of extreme sarcasm?!
Exactly that. They way it was said and the context means is was insulting and derogatory. I hope they all plead guilty and be done with it. Faria should be sacked by the club. Outrageous behaviour.Black can man said:

Have Real only had 19% possession tonight?
28% according to BBC, which sounds a bit more like it. I semi-watched the match and that seems about right. They certainly aren't the force that everyone was worried about and definitely beatable.
I think Chelseas problem against Real could be a very good ability to defend but no real fire-power to get past their defence....concede 1 goal against them and I think we could be in trouble....
thoughts?

I've said this a million times but I genuinely hate Guardiola's style of football. Buy the time they find the pass that scores a goal I'm not interested anymore.
Bring back diagonal Hollywood passes and big centre forwards bullying defenders.
The "right" way of playing football is probably somewhere in the middle. I'm not a fan of Guardiola's football either really; I'm getting more out of watching Liverpool and Everton this season as it seems to be the right mix of pretty build-up stuff combined with the occasional sixty yard ball and some devastating attacking at pace.Bring back diagonal Hollywood passes and big centre forwards bullying defenders.

The great Liverpool team of the 80's was an extremely cagey operator in Europe though, played very different football to how they played in the League. Away goals kill you over two legs so Liverpool's bucaneering style in the PL would probably not play dividends in the CL come knockout time. GloverMart said:

True, people deride boring Chelsea but frankly Bayern are like watching paint dry, sideways pass after sideways pass. Liverpool have certainly been awesome in attack, as have Citeh when on the boil, but I think that in the CL they would get punished by teams who counterattack at pace.Justin Cyder said:
The problem people have with it is when Mourhino accuses for example, West Ham of playing 19th century football only to go out & play the same way with his own team. We all understand the sound tactical reasons, it's the hypocrisy that sticks in the craw.

The difference is, Allardyce parks the bus to make sure he finishes mid-table, Jose does it to try to win the Champions League. It might not be pretty to watch at times, but watching us lift the Cup at the end makes those memories go away. Gassing Station | Football | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
