When Man U won the league 2 yrs ago, I said they were the worst team ever to win it. That's a title we might take off them this season. Just dire.
We've had a few iffy games recently, but got the results. But not yesterday. There was a plan. There was an objective. It was executed to perfection, United frankly didn't get a look in for all that possession.
Really. If Rooney's early strike is on target it goes in. Falco hit the outside of the post when he should have scored, and Courtois just managed to palm away the ball when Falco was clear thru.

That was a match we could, and probably should have lost. I don't buy this after the event "if was part of my masterplan" rubbish from Jose. I fully accept it was a game we didn't have to win, and they did, so sit back and hit them on the break, and that may have been his plan. But I don't think he was happy for us to be so completely dominated for long periods of the game. And overrun in midfield.
Yes really. 3 attempts for all that possesion. There have been games recently when frankly I felt we were just hanging on by the fingertips. Yesterday It felt like we had control. United were really not the threat 70% possession suggests.

....and as for if's ...if De Gea had been sent off for handling outside the box.... if Hazard had of scored a 2nd instead of hitting the post.......

Indeed.....he's the master of deflection of blame from himself and his team.

But that's Jose's MO for all the big big games. Sacrifice possession and play on the counter.

His first thought is to not lose the game, he knows there's enough quality to create 2-3 good chances per game.

He will change personnel and formation to take away the strength of the opposition in order to get the result. The performance is secondary to all of that.

Absolutely cracking atmosphere at the game yesterday and for all of United's possession they threatened on only a handful of occasions. It did feel as though United would get an equaliser as the second half wore on, but in truth they didn't really do enough to warrant one and we could have scored again on the counter.

If Costa or Remy had been fit I suspect that we would have been a bit more adventurous, but it was a solid performance and a massive result. Great celebrations at the end too smile

Totally disagree - since Jose has come back we haven't lost a League game against any of the other big 4 clubs. There's no way that is just down to luck. Really don't understand all the negativity since we have the second most goals scored and least conceded, best goal difference and goals per game ratio. We've lost twice in the league, one of which can safely be put down to one of those freak games every team gets now and then. A smaller or weaker team can win a cup by stringing a few results together but to win the league you have to be the best team for the entire season

Nobody is saying Chelsea aren't the best team in the league and nobody is saying it's down to luck. The negativity around Mourinho is about him and the type of football his teams play.

We are definitely the best team in the league. I'm just not convinced we're very good.

Jose is just ensuring we do the minimum required to win so we avoid late-season injuries and fatigue. A more open and pressing game would be more fun to watch but also mean we concede more - the reason teams like Barca can do it is because their average opposition is a lot weaker than ours. It's possible to play badly and win now and then, but not on the kind of run we're on

Mad to think that you guys can seal the title when you come to the king power stadium on the 29th! Please throw the game so you can win it at home.

One game at a time, a win against the arse is the key thing at the moment. Leicester won't be an easy game, especially if they show up like they did against Swansea.

So what do we think about tomorrow. I reckon a point virtually wins us the title. (yes, I know we could still be caught but I doubt we will be).

But lose tomorrow, and then go to Leicester and lose there because they are on a run and scrapping for their lives, and it could get very twitchy.

I was almost proved wrong that ramirez doesn't seem to be adding much but his shot was soft. Hazard very quiet too, but I wonder if that is down to Arsenal, much as Sanchez has been man marked out of the game.

Could have seen it coming a mile of but happy with that result. Sounds like we were denied another stone wall penalty

Wanted all three points, but still happy with one. We had no Costa or Remy, I'm sure things would have been different had either of them been playing.

Well it may not have been the best of games as a spectator but, as a supporter it was a good result. Hazard was quiet, unlike the home crowd every time Fabregas touched the ball. Class? I think not
A hard won point but Mourinho's instructions were clearly followed to the letter,
A win and two draws or beat Leicester and then win at home to Liverpool....
