Or, Chelsea's best players grew old and were not replaced.
Courtois replaced Cech. Oscar, Hazard, Zouma, Costa, Willian, all early - mid 20s. Stones was lined up to replace Terry but we couldn't get him. It's nothing to do with the age of the players, just their performance.

Cole, Terry, Cech, Drogbah. In their prime they were fantastic. They're not in their prime anymore and neither is Jose.
On a more positive note, BR has been spotted in Cobham according to the media titan, The Surrey Comet!
I don't think it is your older players that are the main problem. Yes Terry is getting to that age, but last season he was still superb. Cesc is 28, Costa is "27", Courtois is young, Begovic is 28. That's the spine of the team, with only one getting near to being over the hill.
I think you're main problem is that Jose sets up the team to play as a team, if one or two players aren't doing what they're supposed to be doing then the whole thing comes crashing down like a house of cards. This is why players like Mata and Schurrle have been shipped out. You're problem is that Cesc doesn't like doing the defensive work, Hazard has been really poor and the defence have been all over the place compounded by Jose chopping and changing players every week.
You could see it with Liverpool last season, when the midfielders aren't doing what they need to be doing the opposition can start imposing themselves and when you have half the opposition team running at your back 4/5 then it's going to affect their confidence too!

I'm not entirely sure, I think we have replaced the old spine of the team, but sadly we haven't replaced their leadership qualities - from what I can tell the only real leader we have on the pitch is a rapidly fading JT, so when we go a goal down, there is no one on the pitch to rally the troops and get everyone's head back up again in the way Drogba and Cech used to. It's nothing to do with the age of the players, just their performance.
I do think a lot of the problems this season are down to the squad being far too small - leading to a complete lack of competition for places, meaning certain players felt like they only had to turn up to get picked - just look at the effect being dropped has had on Hazard, and Matic (to a smaller degree). We sorely need to do the same with Costa, Remy or Traore need to start some games to get Diego's head out his jacksie.
I suspect Jose saw this last season hence asked for some new names, which didn't materialize - from the rumours Jose had very little input this window, and boy does it show.

excellent, and accurate!smn159 said:
Well despite my fears that was a good performance. Spurs didn't create much and we could have nicked it; a good point.
Really surprised how solid we looked. Really thought we'd be torn apart by s confident and in form team but they hardly had a chance. Maybe the horror form is over?silverfoxcc said:
So When Big Martin parked the bus, the normal one moaned like buggery, He does it today and thats he best they have played all season
And You actually pay to see that ste week after week. I applaud you
Except we played better than you without a number 9 and created more chances and would've won but for an amazing save by Lloris. And You actually pay to see that ste week after week. I applaud you
