Mercedes Sprinter Catalytic Converter Theft

Same as the motive for nicking the lead off a church roof. But we're not allowed to criticise those involved as they're a marginalised group, the Police can't deal with them and even if they could they're so inbred they don't leave fingerprints and DNA evidence leads you to 500 people.

Well, we became the latest victim of this. £3500 of parts removed from underneath the vehicle overnight.
Police too busy for scene of crime to check for fingerprints.... Told us there have several in the past few days in our small town..
Where exactly is the deterrent?.....
It's not just the parts, the van is insured but the inconvenience of having the vehicle off the road while it is repaired.
Makes my blood boil....

Straight through pipe, resonator, remap.
Half the work's been done.
Mate runs a countryside garage they removed 8 from customers cars overnight.
So that's 8 CATS and exhaust systems (as they cut both sides of the exhaust off) and 8 hire cars he had to pay for.
They also regularly drill the diesel fuel tanks and the heating oil tanks.
Impossible to stop them.

Do diesel vehicles actually require a C/C to pass an MOT?
Obviously this doesn't detract from the fact the fkers have violated your vehicle but I wonder what the motive is?
I think they'd fail on emissions without a cat. Suspect either the cats are being sold second hand or someone's after the metals inside them.Obviously this doesn't detract from the fact the fkers have violated your vehicle but I wonder what the motive is?

Heating oil and Red tanks are a favourite! Problem is the bds take what they want then let the rest pour out of the hole they've drilled. So that's 8 CATS and exhaust systems (as they cut both sides of the exhaust off) and 8 hire cars he had to pay for.

I know somebody who lost nearly 2000 litres of red to them, they probably got away with 50litres the other 1950 ended up in a
£2000 environmental clean up job! Anybody that moans when the bds get slotted whilst trying, should have them visit them!
It's not just Sprinters we had a couple of Masters done recently and have had them done in he past too, the cats are worth around £150 each on the black market for their precious metals.
A load of cars were done on a local industrial site a few months ago, car cats are with about £70.

Happens more than you'd expect!
A couple of years back I was working in A&E and we had a 'trauma call' come in. The initial reports were that it was a van versus a pedestrian.
On later questioning, it appears the guy was under the van trying to steal the cats when then owner got in and drove off, running over a couple of limbs in the process and dragging him a couple of hundred meters down the road! My sympathy was minimal.

I've had the cats nicked off my Landy while it was parked up in my mates workshop yard near Dartford, I think something like 10 Land Rovers were done.
Amazingly, I got them back. I believe the story was that a scrappie had reported that a suspicious looking chap had turned up with a boot full of catalytic converters a while before, given his reg number to the Police, and plod were following him as he was a known scally. They caught him red handed the next day turning over another yard.
Unfortunately it took a good while to get them back as my Landy is pretty unique in the UK, the cats couldn't have reasonably come off of anything else and were thus a very good bit of evidence to be used in court.
Also, a Cat isn't needed to pass an emissions test on a diesel, but I believe it has to be visibly present... obviously there are other cheaper, less restrictive devices that could easily be mistaken for a Cat

We've had cats, side bars, spare wheels and mirrors nicked off vehicles on our pitch - mainly just off Navaras, RR Sports, Shoguns, L200s etc. Hmmm I wonder what inbred, ignorant scum drive round in vehicles like this... As usual Police not interested even though they always leave a load of prints behind.
