Anyone else watching this on BBC4? About an american mobster who relocates to Lilyhammer, Norway after giving evidence against his new boss, looks to be a shaping up to be a great little series, very funny

I'm just about to start watching this on catch-up, however I can't get my head around the fact that they spelled Lillehammer wrongly.

I can't help but feel that perhaps it will turn out to be a play on words as the series goes on.

I seem to remember it's a play on the usual mispronunciation of "Lillehammer" as "Lilyhammer". And no, I've no idea how it should be properly pronounced!

So basically it's a quirky, character based comedy based on Northern Exposure, with a gangster instead of a doctor, and in Norway, not Alaska?

Steven Van Zandt (he played Silvio in The Sopranos), plays a mobster who chooses Lillehamer Norway for his witness protection exile, having seen the winter olympics from there back in 1994.

Very enjoyable culture-clash stuff, made in Norway by Norwegians, so much better than the usual rubbish.

Love the way they made him drive one of those TH!NK electric cars that they used to make in Norway...

Anyone feeling the love? Guessing at the story arc, it looks as if the guy Johnny gave up to the feds is going to be coming back to bit him on the behind judging by the driving licence phone call.

I'm finding the pervy town hall clerk hilarious as ever.

Is this worth watching? I've got 3 episodes recorded so far and wondering whether it's worth investing time?

Yeah, give it a go. I've only seen the first one so far with two recorded.

It's alright. smile

It's pretty funny - kind of like one of those "heartwarming" comedy dramas ITV used to show on a Sunday evening, except with organised crime.

Okay, so just finished catching up S2 & S3 on Netflix.

I'm confused - the chap who was in a coma & framed for a murder - how was it that he was able to leave hospital & take revenge. Surely he'd have gone straight to prison.
