Looking to purchase one of these little marvels that plug into the cars 12v socket. But looking at the variable choice from 5 quid to 50 quid I have no idea which are good / bad or just plain dreadful. I don't really want to spend more than 20 quid but if that buys rubbish perhaps I need to spend more?Comments and advise please.

I got a cheap one its small and it works although a bit slow. Good to leave in the boot just in case.
We have loads at work out of some vans ( the customer didn't want them in there vehicles for some reason ) i got one and its brilliant.

Ring rac630 from amazon. Under 30 quid. Perfect - you set the pressure on the digital scale, and it automatically pumps it up to that pressure. It has a decent motor in it, unlike the lesser models. A+

If you also have a chip in your windscreen, get Autoglass round to fix the chip ( on your insurance) and you'll get a free gift of wiper blades or a 12V compressor

Honestly guys, get a decent foot pump. These things are a waste of space, I bought one years ago and used it about twice, then went and bought a decent foot pump and proper tyre gauage. Guess why they give them away as a "Super free gift"................

we use to blow up fotballs in our shop using a 12v compressor . bought several over the years and blown them up. some of the ones sold by argos and halfords were terrible .an rac one was the worst , it just shook itself to pieces. best one , a budget one mind , has been a ring branded one . runs pretty quietly too
