Hi
Any preference on spark plugs to be used in your Wedge? Im after some new plugs for my 420SE, though the prices seem to be anywhere from £25 to £55. Point me in the right direction please for some good value plugs.... NGK in there at the moment, so i guess thats the make to use....
Cheers

I see the Op runs a 420SE so being a Rover V8 you may be interested in this? I moved my Chimp from the original shrouded electrode (non projected) type NGK B7ECS to NGK BPR6EIX iridium plugs, with great results. Just moving away from a shrouded to a projected electrode plug like a NGK BPR6ES will push the electrode further into the combustion chamber & will make a big improvement (with no risk whatsoever). If you go one step further & fit the iridium BPR6EIX you will get a more intense spark and significantly longer service life. Although 8 iridium BPR6EIX are initially more expensive, if you do the maths they will work out cheaper given their significantly extended service life. People worry that adding the "R" (a resistor plug) will reduce spark performance, in practice the only difference a resistor plug delivers is improved radio reception. Also your need Resistive plugs if you ever want to go for an after-market ECU, they seem more sensitive then the older ones.

Note the gloved hand to protect against mould from the leaky roof. And one of the rare & desirable vinyl disc player option. Later Wedges were upgraded to the latest 8 track system.

My car got new B7ECS's in July 2003 (according to my history file). They've been in ever since (only about 15000 miles) and that's the only time I've changed them in 12 years of ownership. I think I changed them to get rid of a misfire which I eventually cured by rewiring the injection system - so the old ones were bead-blasted and kept as spares. I doubt that most V8s would benefit from the expense of 'Iridium' plugs... most people sell the cars before the plugs need changing again anyway. If you doubt that, look at how many people have come and gone just on this forum over the last 10 years, and even of those who've stayed, how many have changed cars once or twice.
