Have they? So do we know if Plato had more boost than the Honda then at Silverstone?

Jason had this to say in lead up to Silverstone.... he was way off his predictions...dont know how he pulled it off now, he must be amazing, like a super human....

"It's a big concern," the two-time champion (Jason Plato) told AUTOSPORT. "I've had first-hand experience of being at Silverstone in a championship fight with a horsepower disadvantage.

"If there's a chance of overtaking we won't be able to because other cars will just pull away.

"It'll be a frustrating weekend for me, [team-mate] Andy [Neate] and the Hondas.

"It also means the chances of me scoring big points are limited"
Jesus, this is called sportsmanship. How many times does ANY sportsman play down their chances of doing well before a big game/match/race?

You need to stop listening and quoting soundbites, and just enjoy the races.
I'm looking forward to some real racing at Brands Hatch...... tomorrow..... hero's on two wheels, no boost increases for slow riders, no fixed results...just rider v's rider team v's team....how motorsport should be.. not winning by having more boost than someone else because you didnt have a very good race car.....

I will say this about it though, Alan Gow has certainly got people talking..i'm out numbered on here as its all pro Plato from the fanboi's on PH, but man theres alot of talk going on....alot of people feel the same as me and alot of people think this season has been a joke cause of what happened at Silverstone...

Because when we see those figures we see the great scandal of current BTCC. Dont forget it was Plato who highlighted it last season. But now it's carrying on with the NGTC cars and not just trying to level up the S2000 cars.
It would also explain why one weekend Wrathall is the great white hope next weekend he's fumbling around the mid pack. It would explain why Sheddon and Neal looked like they were so slow at Silverstone.
Watching lead up to Korean Quali it's telling how much it's about a good driver/ car package, yes there's many add ons and development to get more pace to get that magic advantage... in BTCC that is mainly just simply getting more boost increase overt your biggest rival... it's a joke.
fine if you don't think it is, just keep on telling yourself it's not really happening....

Again try to think of a sport that tries to level up the slowest or worst performers from previous race. it would be like cycling just going "sod it, just let them use performance enhancing drugs, but let the slowest ones use more and the top riders nothing"... it's THAT much of a joke....

More boost = more torque, more BHP. more corner speed entry and exit = more straight line speed = joke series..

Just cause you too pig thick to do anything but shout abuse, it must be frustrating for you to not have the ability or intellect to have a debate do you just shout abuse. Ignorance is bliss, all in doing is telling the way it is and people don't want to believe that Plato won at silverstone due to having more boost and the Hondas were boarked so we got a show down at BH. joke series for anyone serious about motorsport and not just z list TV personality fanboys ..

Sadly I think you have a point. There seems to be no other rational explanation.

Yes, speak for yourself. I think after a slow start he has been making some good points lately. It is an open forum and everyone is entitled to an opinion without expecting a personal insult in return.

For such a 'joke series' you spend way too much time forcing your opinions on others.

Plenty of people have tried to debate with you but you simply stick to your one sided agenda, successfully hijacking an entire thread. You repeatedly demonstrate your anti-Plato bias, whilst ignoring the opinions of drivers who actually race - it's your opinion, which we've all heard repeatedly, ad nauseum, throughout the entire thread.

What we could have had is a rational discussion, with some additional input from Mr. Plato which for many of us would have been interesting but instead we have to listen to you droning on and on about something you know little about; when faced with posters like you it's no wonder he hasn't rejoined the thread which is disappointing for those of us interested in opinions other than yours, based on actual racing experience, rather than armchair heroics!

You're opinions are very tedious and very boring. We get it, you don't like Plato. Just get over it.

I AM the reason Mr.Plato even came onto this thread!! Same as the other places he posts like 10 tenths, touring car times, its when he's critisised online he and his PR jump into action... dont think for a second he just wanted a chat with some fanboys on PH! lol...

All Mr Plato has to do is simply come on here and say "the MG had exactly the same ammount of boost as the Hondas of Mat and Gordon"

The i can happily say i was wrong, i can then say that yes maybe that MG is the best chasiss with certainly a great driver on board....

But right now i'm affraid the truth looks like MG thus Mr.Plato have been given more boost than the cars and drivers they are fighting for the championship with....which means that if they have more boost than Team Honda, realistically you cant realy say that the MG and Plato won because of a better car / driver....its BECAUSE OF HAVING MORE BOOST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But if Mr Plato wants to set the record straight about the boost levels at Silverstone i'm all ears as are many many true BTCC and motorsport fans who dont want the BTCC to be turned into any more of an X factor / WWF type pantomime........

Decadence - the rules are being applied as TOCA said they would at the start of the season. They're not tweaking the boost to 'fix' the championship - the rules were designed to prevent any one car running away with the title early on and they're doing exactly that.

Different engines will have different base boost figures - the idea was that all engines would have very similar power and torque outputs to start with. That was the whole point of Lotus testing all the engines pre season.

I would agree it could be useful if TOCA published the timing calculation results and simply if a car has a boost upgrade or not. The amount of boost is meaningless without knowing the car characteristics.

I believe Olly said the car can't make use of any more boost, not that they're at the max TOCA can give. They'd have to redo heads etc to benefit.

In which case you need to go back to round one of this season and compare the boost levels of all the cars for every round.

Those with the highest boost, no matter which manufacturer, should be disqualified from the results.

It's no good coming on here and talking sense - he wont listen to that, because it doesn't suit his agenda.smile

Decadence - Your posting style and blinkered approach make it very difficult to debate on here without appearing to 'rise to the bait' of abuse, so I invite you to seek me out at Brands and we can discuss anything you like face to face. We seem to agree on many aspects of where BTC is going wrong ('cos it surely is) but the whole subject of baseline boost levels and performance boost adjustments you seem to completely misunderstand, either by design or ignorance of the basic principles.
I'll be there all weekend, as I often am, if you are going to be there I truly welcome the opportunity to have a chat during any downtime I can wangle.

I mean it - if you're there, lets have a chat!!

It's getting people in the gate and watching on TV/online. And it's getting people talking. Mr Gow will be very happy about this. I don't think he's going to change anything soon, all because of a one man crusade on an internet forum. If Arena left for the WTCC because they were pissed off with how it was all going and say they feel more welcome and happier in the midfield there, then TOCA aren't going to listen to any of us are they. At the end of the day, the opinions of proper motor racing fans don't count. We all long for the old days of everybody in equal 2.0 N/A cars, with no ballast or turbo boost, international drivers, big sponsors and lots of manufacturers. It isn't going to happen. This is as good as it's going to get.

Agreed. What annoys me though is Plato moaning about the Fords being over boosted and the regulations being a 'joke', but then when it suits MG at Silverstone thats all forgotton about and suddenly all the talk is of "the best chassis". A bit unfair I think.
I'll not go copy and pasting him anymore as people believe what yet enter to believe but Plato has moaned about boosts and regs and Ford and Honda all season. Suddenly he walks it at Silverstone and odds on for championship and it's all talk of great chassis and driver skill.
That's all. Just see a slight unfairness in his approach to other teams / drivers which as the big man on campus I think allows him to get away with alot...
