I bought 2 of these 0801's before Christmas, one with GPS logging and one without, and a Class 6 32gb micro SD card for each.

They have both performed flawlessly (after changing the original Class 10 SD to Class 6). You do just set it up and then leave it in the car (I got ours hard-wired, rather than having to use the cigar lighter socket). I even forget they're there until I hear it turn on and off!
Damn I have a 32gb class 10 waiting.

I also bought mine from eletoponline365.
I think most clear customs without VAT.
Postage is a little slow so expect it to take potentially a few weeks to arrive.

For software to process video clips (cos you will be posting them up) I use Avidemux - basic but perfect for snipping out clips.

Definitely get the little clip with the screw thread fitting.
Depending on your dash you either need a suction mount for the windscreen or can use Velcro direct on the dash - though that could be too low.

Also get a 12V usb charger splitter so you can have the dashcam plugged in and still have a charging output for your phone.

The slidey holder thing comes with it if you look at the ad.

As mentioned in my post above, you'll need to buy the windscreen suction cup and a USB charger (I recommend purchasing it from him as it's the right power supply amount and they are very susceptible to problems if you use one of a poor quality or slightly different supply level).

You'll also need to supply your own microSD card. I use a Sandisk Ultra UHS-1 16GB class 10 in mine with no issues at all.

Any feedback looking to buy the above?
Eletoponline365 is the manufacturer of the Mobius - he is called Peter Xie. I have his personal email address should any problems arise and he is extremely helpful and very customer service dedicated. I bought mine from that link above fyi. As you will see, it has a good following as it says next to the availability that 12,369 have been sold which is pretty impressive. eek

If you're buying it for your car, you will also need to order these 2 items from him :

Note that the USB cig plug/charger only works on 12v. If you are a trucker and stick it in a 24v socket it won't end well. Don't ask me how I know. hehe I wonder if my fellow truckie friend GC8 experienced the same issue?! wobble
I have certainly done that before! Some vehicles have a 12v cigar lighter, and some adapters have a 24v+ - 12v input range too. You only tend to make the mistake once. It cost me a portable DVD player.

"Action" stars at 3:30. Truck side swipe.

22:30 on the M25 roadworks-within-roadworks. In hindsight I should have hung back earlier on but hey ho!

Roadhawk RH1 (the older style) front and back.
Personally I wouldn't buy another dash cam without GPS because it's really difficult trying to work out/ find where about you are!

Is that near Clackett Lane going c/w?

That 50 limit is bloody dangerous - cars at indicated 50, lorries on their limiters. I boot it past and ease off afterwards, don't want to hang about alongside.

Foreign? (What was he doing pulling into the outside lane?). Did he actually hit you?

Is there a camera that works on batteries rather than needing to be wired in,as the cig socket already has something in it?

Yes he did hit me. Scuff on mirror (also pushed it in) and an odd tyre burn mark on the door, that's since been polished out.

I did get him to stop so (eventually!) it'll be going through insurance.

Appeared to be foreign to me and it didn't happen when I expected it to. He appeared to want to pull out earlier but saw the car in the outside lane.

The video doesn't play very well making it difficult to be certain what happened, but I suspect that a combination of his impatience and GTIRs hanging around in the wrong area brought this about.

He didn't want to pull out earlier because that is L3 (and never once used L3 on that stretch) as he's not allowed there, until the roadworks directed him to move over. However, I'd cleared him by then but he then accelerated, indicated and then pulled in even though he had plenty of room to wait.

Yes. I should have booted it past but hindsight and all that eh!

The quality is jumpy because my PC is crap at saving AVI and freezes up for some reason.

Does anyone know if its possible with the 0801 GPS unit, to NOT show/record the vehicle speed?
Yes. turn off the GPS in the option menu

(see the TechMoan review vid for details)

10.58 onwards. But bear in mind the clock will also be wrong as a result. It doesn't bother me. But there may be a way for it to get the time but not display speed on the screen. Never bothered to look in detail.

I've been eating for the 0801 with the wdr chip doesn't seem to be coming and it has oroblems.

So do I wait a bit more?

Or just get the standard 0801 if so which is the best place reliable/price to get one from?

Cheers
I got mine from Amazon. EPrance, but "fulfilled by Amazon" To be fair it looked like EPrance just send a few to Amazon and they stick your address on the box. Wasn't branded "Amazon.co.uk" like normal deliveries.

It is worrying when you see so many lorry drivers tail gating and distracted.

What do you both think the video clip is showing? I see an unladen trailer with a less than optimally adjusted load sensing valve (if it actually can be adjusted to work unladed).

When you're coming up alongside and they have the appearance of slamming full on, then you have visions of them veering over into your lane for evasive action. The smoke plume was a lot more worrying in real life than a video after.
I hadn't noticed his unit small wheel was up so unloaded.
The consequence though is the ripple effect all the way behind when they brake from 56mph to 40mph and everyone else behind brakes harder - I braked as I didn't know if he was going to deviate...so everyone behind us brakes. A mile back and I bet people are doing emergency stops.

Its less than ideal, but not something that the driver can control. Its happening because the braking system isn't able to reduce the effort to the trailer brakes sufficiently when it is unladen. As a result the brakes on all trailer wheels lock up as soon as the brakes are applied. When its carrying approaching thirty tonnes it wont happen, but they will work properly.

I wonder if he'd get done for an unsafe vehicle?
After all it's up to the driver to make sure the vehicle is in safe and proper working condition.

Oh and Unladed isn't actually a word.
