Look at the road markings at the lights where the lorry is stopped when it comes into view, straight on and left, he goes straight on.
Balls. You're right. I didn't see that.

Roundabouts with lanes on never work, the lorry, despite being on the inside was in a lane marked to go where he went, turning off a roundabout from the middle lane where you were, was asking for exactly what happened even if not necessarily wrong.
I suggest you watch the video again. Where does it show that if you're in the left hand lane you cut across 2 lanes to get into the right hand lane?

It does have broken lines there, for the junction coming off of the motorway, not for when you're not on that junction.
So you didn't want an argument settled, you wanted us all to say you were in the right.

The arrow on the lane the lorry was in pointed ahead and left. He went ahead. What's wrong with that? Also he didn't exactly 'cut you up' you had plenty of time to see what he was doing.

I've been looking closely at dash cams lately and want one that accepts 64gb+ cards. Anyone know of any?

I am more interested in having 10+ hours recorded whilst my car is parked up. Had a spate of cars getting keyed and tyres slashed in my area so i am more interested in capturing footage overnight whilst parked rather than whilst i am driving. I live in a flat so no way i can fit a cctv on the building either.

Would also want a low power consumption one so it can be left on to record overnight and run from the car battery without flattening it. So preferably without a screen on all the time.

Has anyone tried a 64gb card in the cheap ones that say they only accept up to 32gb? I suspect it would just throw an error message

In parking mode my Blackvue only records when it has sensed movement, I don’t think you’d need a large card for this.

I’m not sure how effective an in-car camera would be in your case, the car would need to be in a well-lit area and you may need more than one camera. Any chance of asking a neighbour to put the camera in a window or something?

I can't see why, the standards still the same so it's just a storage medium as far as the device is concerned it's not having to do anything wildly different.

Hi,

Just after a bit of advice please.
Quite fancy a Mini 0803, seems to be a good all round model.
The movement sensor when parked is a big plus.

How difficult is it to fit hard wiring? Cig port on my car is off with ignition so assuming hard wiring would be only way to get parked recording.
Also a lease car so not keen on making too many changes.

Reads as though it is but can somebody confirm? Can the camera be used in a 2nd car with i'd assume a 2nd power lead and fitting bracket?

Thanks

If you're buying a mini 0803, I'd suggest you buy a clear double sided sticky pad rather than using the one provided, I believe it's grey in colour and sticks out like a sore thumb when stuck to the window.

Use an add-a-circuit. No hacking any wires then and easy to take to the next lease car. You can tap into any of the fuses you like then (perm or ignition)

It's been a rather expensive few months but I'm keen to get a dash cam.

Think I'll be going for one of these, reviews seem favourable. Plus it'll take up to a 128gb card. smile

If you have had an expensive few months, why are you considering a camera priced at £186?

This one gets good write-ups and only costs around £41:-

I didn't suggest I'd be purchasing it immediately and any dash cam isn't an essential purchase.

I'm considering it as it's fairly discreet, fantastic image quality and thought it might be helpful to the poster above looking for a camera that can handle a card above 64GB.

I purchased a 0801 recently and hardwired it in, well actually I used the existing wiring from the Mi-Witness so it is on all the time. Video quality is far superior as is the motion detect mode so no need to purchase a massive mini SD card.

If ever there was a price quality issue the 0801 may well have caused it because it's just so good at what it does. It's small, matt black in colour, and it records in hi-definition using class 4 mini SD cards.

If' you're not sure about the settings then watch the Youtube video review by Techmoan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LWOq62cY6U for the Mini 0803 because he really does offer excellent advice on setting up this dash cam.

Set the camera view slightly down towards the bonnet rather than skywards.

I've been thoroughly impressed to date with the high quality of the video footage recorded. Have mine hardwired in and set to motion detect and it works flawlessly.

As mentioned by techmoan, the 0803 is better, but realistically, the 0801 is plenty good enough except in low light conditions, is a fabulous bit of kit, just watch out for the fraudsters...

How many hours of footage does a 32 GB card hold roughly before it starts to loop?

Quick approximation (actual should be a little higher) = ( SD capacity [Gb] / Bit rate of camera [Mbps] ) x 2.

Example - ( 32Gb / 16Mbps ) x 2 = 4 hours.

If you hardwire a 0801 or 0803 so that it is permanently powered then you can set motion-detect to ON and it will only record video when it detects motion so saves trawling through 10 hours of video footage. I have the 0801 model which records in fantastic 1080p definition, though am led to believe the newer 0803 is better in low-light conditions.

It's extremely fast in catching motion, even caught a motorcycle going past the bonnet whilst parked up and it records as cars go past my drive when parked. And it's extremely sensitive as I found out at the weekend when I parked facing a tree, as the branch and leaves moved it recorded it everything... not quite what I was expecting!

This really is a fantastic dash cam with far higher resolution than many of the more expensive dash cams, and it's so compact. Take a look at this ebay seller who holds stock of the 0801, 0803, plus an assortment of add-ons which might be very useful to you. Have it on very good authority that they know what they are talking about and are based in Leicestershire rather than China. Link to their dash cam shop is: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/COMBI-LTD/Car-Camera-/_i....

I have a 32GB class 4 mini SD card fitted in my 0801 dash cam and it works fine. However, I am led to believe that the 0803 demands a much faster SD card (class 10) or the card may not be able to cope with all the data being sent to it. If you have an 0803 and are suffering write problems then check your SD card to see whether it is fast enough, then switch the resolution to 'fine' and '1080p' to see if that fixes the problem.

I've not tested my 0801 with a 64GB 0r 128GB SD card due to most of them being class 10 which is not recommended in earlier issues posted that this may cause problems, though I have a feeling that the firmware update may have fixed that problem. Will find out in the next few days.

Last year I installed a more expensive twin camera Mi-Witness dash-cam in one of my cars, and it is pretty good resolution (but not as good as the 0801) especially with the two camera views facing front and rear, but it is over four times as expensive as two of the 0801 units. If I had known then what I know now I would have hardwired two 0801's into the car. Yes I know the Mi-Witness has the fancy iPhone app so you can see where it's pointing, but the in-built LCD screen on the 0801 is so much simpler and so much easier to work with.

Can anyone give advice on the benefits or pitfalls of a GPS camera?

I'm assuming the risk is the data being used against you if you were stopped by the police but I would have thought if it was that serious they could work it out on the video distance covered anyway.

Worth paying the extra for a GPS?
