Picked up a MCS 2002 last week and want to top up the engine oil. Trying to do some searching on the web but unsure what oil to use? Some people say i could use 0W 30, 0W 40, 5W 30 or 5W 40.
Any preference on what I should use? Or are they all pretty much the same?

Mini recommend castrol edge 0W 30. Not had any problems with using this type, but make sure you check levels regularly!!

There are a number of oil companys (Miller etc) doing the correct BMW oil spec. There are a number of parts to the spec. I did go to a Mini dealer and they could only get my 1L bottels but I could get a survice kit!!! Why not do the oil as well? But I do not now how much diffrance this makes other than you will get problems if you go to thick.

As long as its LL04 there won't be any issues with the weights mentioned in the OP.
