Ladies/gents of PH, Evolve.ae would like to invite all PH members to attend their first Fun Speed Run of 2012 at Dubai Autodrome, on Friday 19 October 2012. Basically its AutoX/Gymkhana style. We have hired the Oval Circuit upon whose hallowed tarmac we throw down a few cones (just to make it a little more interesting). From a standing start, you drive around the cones in a set direction (which we tell you) and we time you. Its a hell of a lot of fun. Proceedings will start at 13:30, however, drivers should be there by 12:30. Further details and entry list are posted here: http://www.evolve.ae/forum/index.php?/topic/12510-...fromsearch1 Look forward to seeing you guys there. PS: it was supposed to be the 26 Oct, but that will be the EID weekend.

Having owned the Vette for a year and not taken it on track yet, I think I might just be up for this!

del you should check with yorky or oily whether you'll be allowed on track as a novice.

del you should check with yorky or oily whether you'll be allowed on track as a novice. Anybody is allowed to participate. It will be a tightly controlled event. DA will have a few Marshalls dotted about and they will be keeping an eye on us as well. If anybody is endangering them selves, other competitors or spectators they will be thrown out. Its not a drift event or a timed race (we only use stop-watches are used) - its about having some fun in your car on both a technical/open track layout. We want everyone to drive their car to the event and drive it home afterwards (we have had some very close moments with drivers always wiping out walls/barriers). One car out on the track at a time so safety is our main concern.

Silly question this, where's the actual entry to the autodrome... ie: where should I be driving to on Friday morning?

i believe the meeting point is the paddock car park. come off umm suqueim rd flyover, turn right at the first set of lights, follow the road round [watch the speedbumps] and turn left at the roundabout to go under the tunnel.

The event meeting point is actually before the tunnel. Just before you get to the tunnel, turn right and you will see a porta-cabin and we will be there - in fact you should see us when you reach the round-about.
