Anybody know of a decent read encompassing the above?
Want something that covers most of it rather than a book that concentrates on a particular event or year.
Not looking for anything too heavy, something along the lines of Beevor or Hastings.
Love reading history books (esp modern stuff) but this period has generally passed me by which I'm keen to rectify!
Ta!

Howard Zinn- A People's History of the United States, 1492-present.
Superb, and very rare for a book on US history written by a yank, it tells the truth, not just a load of lies concocted by the winners.
