66 Poles, one of which was at Monaco in an average car at 42 years old
Faster than 25 year old team mate Rosberg.
What a fluke!

FIA biase? Unlimited testing? Tyres? Cheating? If it was all down to the car then why has Rosberg whooped his ass since his return.
That he'd still be competative well into his 50's? He's not superhuman. He's slowing down, as we all do.

Notice recently he said 'yeah, as a sporting endeavour it hasn't gone to plan'?
But as a financial endeavour?
Haway, fellas. They've been raking it in, and that's the point of F1. It's a business and we're not teenagers following our favourite wrestler 'losing' matches - so leave the man be.

I think we've now got a much better understanding of Schuey's capabilities relative to his peers, without the advantages he enjoyed in the noughties. Maybe age has overtaken him too, but contrast his obscene reaction when DC drove into the back of him at Spa, to the handshake of Jean-Eric Vergne after Schuey's specsavers moment in Singapore. He's had his moment and latterly served his penance; time to move on.
It was worse! IIRC Schumy drove into the back of DC!! And still went to go fight him??!! Go figure!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TeAuQ2Xem4Q

He was rumoured to be getting paid 15 Million a year to win races and develop the car. He has done neither but harm his legacy and cost Mercedes millions in his wages and re-building the cars he has trashed.
You clearly don't grasp the mechanics of the commercial world particularly well. Merc paid MS £15m+ per year because of his drivers skill - but more importantly, MS brings unprecedented marketing presence to Merc which can not be bought for £15m.
To put £15m into perspective, the company I work for paid Uma Thurman that kind of money for a short series of TV ads a few years ago.

"I'm not doing a Fernando-beating thing," Coulthard said. "But I realised on reflection ... when Michael ran into the back of me, his reaction was that I'd brake tested him or tried to kill him and all that sort of thing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TeAuQ2Xem4Q
"The stewards looked at the data and I hadn't braked, so it was just all brushed under the carpet. The reality is that I lifted to let him pass me, but I lifted in heavy spray on the racing line. You should never do that. I would never do that now.
"In 1998, I didn't have the experience and the knowledge, and I had never had someone run into the back of me.
"The minute I knew he was there, and I was told by the team that he was and was trying to allow him to pass me, I should have made a smarter decision."
From David Coulthards mouth.
They were both in the wrong in that one tbh.
One seems to be a myopic McLaren fan who can't get over the fact that they haven't had a WDC for well over a decade and few WDCs to boot (To be fair I can understand the resentment of Schumacher, who played a big part in that) and the other just seems morbidly obsessed with the success of Schumacher per se.
I only became a Schumacher fan when he joined Ferrari. While I was watching F1 for years before 1996 (when I was 14) this really was the start of F1 becoming a bigger deal for me as I grew to understand it more. MSC was, and always will be a sporting hero for me. When he retired in 2006 I was genuinely gutted I'd never see him race in a Ferrari again. Despite it being with Merc I was really excited by his come back. With hindsight I, along with many others, expected far too much. While there have been some good moments and it hasn't taken the shine off his first career I can't feel that shocked or saddened that he's going. The one thing I think is hard to deny is that he added something to the show. He gave us something to talk about (sometimes over and over and over) these past 3 seasons. Anything and anyone that does that for the sport is something to be thankful for.
Coming back to his first career I can't see why the last 3 seasons diminish it. He may have had the best of everything at Ferrari, but there's a good reason for that. He headed a very strong team (yes inknow Jean Todt was the boss!) that made it happen for themselves. They were masters of their destiny. However none of this would have worked without a driver at MSC's level behind the wheel. If you can't watch some of his performances and understand what he did then you need to find another sport.

OK you don't like what we have to say so read Sir Jackie and the bits between the lines at the beginning of and the end of his piece on the Beeb, plus what he reports as the F1 communities thinking. I am in total agreement with what he has written, however he has diplomatically/legally avoided getting into the issues of Scumacher's bad driving and lack of Sportsmanship shown from when he was in karts to when he nealy killed Rubens that will also ALWAYS be remembered, not least because it is all captured on digital video;http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/19834309
He's retired from F1. Didn't mention racing otherwise.
Have a few weeks off over winter and have a go at this - then your credibility in many peoples eyes will be dramatically improved.
Or he could become the German answer to Jean Gerard and go here...
I vill beat you Ricky Bobby you yankee schweinehund!

Indeed. But one thing I have never heard from Michael is the level of arrogance that JYS has always spouted and has managed to do once again in that piece. There was absolutely no need for him to compare MS records with his average. Munter said:
Interesting tweet from Taki Inoue:

The greatest racing driver of this century announced his retirement, but the sh*test one haven't announced his retirement yet for 17 years.
So who is he referring to as not being the best?
Probably himself, he's been making fun of himself on Twitter recently. Little bit odd really. Taki Inoue @takiinoue

eg....
"Some people want to compare me and Mr.Ide. But I don't like it. Believe me! I'm far Sh#tter than him by miles away! No one competes with me!"
"#bbcf1 is showing greatest drivers countdown. Is it possible to do sh*test drivers countdown as well? I'm confident to get in top 10 easily."

Ah. I see. In that context it makes a bit more sense. I thought he was having a pop at a current driver. Doh!eg....
