Well the dreaded time has come. Oil change!
So what can you recommend? I have a PD130 remapped and now one 131k on the clock.
I have tried Quantum oil (Long Life and Platinum) and Castrol Edge.
What can you recommend? The car is driven fairly swiftly day to day, used around town slow and short trips during the week, and long runs on the weekend.

Castrol Edge FST is top stuff, despite Castrol still refusing to get with the 5 litre container program.

A lot of the older VW's now have had the oil grade re-classified , ive got a 2003 Passat PD 130 est with a re-map with 150k on the clock.
The oil grade has been re-classified to 5-30 fully thou ive been using as well as a few friends with the same PD motors to 10/40 semi. Also partly the reason is that i get 5 ltrs for just under £10 plus vat but more importantly i change the oil and filter every 3000 miles.

I thought the issue with the PD engines was that the oil also runs the injection pump so only recommended oil should be used?

Dont know on that one , all i know there are @7 of us using 10/40 semi with 20k plus with no problems.
