Fair price for rear pads fitted?

Given that I have neither the time nor inclination to fit new rear brake pads, does £460 fitted for both sides at the rear sound like a fair price from a dealer or should I start ringing the independents to see if I can improve on that? Or should I perhaps just find someone competent to fit brake pads (Kwikfit?) and buy them myself (as I have seen others do in another thread)?

Me too, cost about £140 including sensor cables for genuine pads - took about 30-45 mins really easy job. If you don't want to do it yourself buy the pads and have any local garage do it, no specialist knowledge or equipment needed. v8woollie said:

The wheel torque you can find in the manual. removal and refitting is very simple Simon

Tighten every second nut until all five nuts are tightened. Tighten all wheel nuts in two stages.
1. To 70 Nm (52 lb. / ft.) in one continuous movement.
2. To 180 Nm (133 lb. / ft.) in one continuous movement.

I reckon that's the hard bit jacking the car up looks a nightmare to me why the stupid jack points 
But agreed with the rest should be a easy diy job once the car is supported properley.
Is this a reasonable trolley jack. It is low profile so will get under the sill and has 2.25 tonne capacity:

Thanks John but I have the torque wrench (a Norbar job that goes to 200Nm) that I bought when I had the S4. I went over the top a bit as those wheel nuts tightened to around 90 lb/ft. Can't believe the Vantage needs 133 lb/ft!Very kind of you to offer though. Just need to make sure I get the proper trolley jack, and I'm thinking a 2+ tonne with low profile (<100mm) should be OK. Some have rubber bits to protect the jacking point and some don't, although I suppose a block of hardwood would do the same thing.

Torque depends on which wheel nuts are fitted...
22mm lug nuts = 60 lb/ft...... Then 100 lb/ft......... Or 80 Nm......... Then 135 Nm
21mm lug nuts = 60 lb/ft.....then 133 lb/ft........or 80 Nm....... Then 180 Nm
My car is an 06 and has 22mm lug nuts

When you say replace the sensor cables do you mean remember to attach the existing ones to the new pads or do you mean buy new sensor cables too? And of course pictures would paint a thousands words (maybe fodder for the faq)

Good pointBut if they haven't come into contact with the disc, activating the light........ The old ones can be carefully removed and re-used..

Mine is a March 07. How do I find out the nut size? Try a socket and see if it fits? Torque depends on which wheel nuts are fitted...
