They're just doing it to generate money, wastes your data plans and generally annoys the user.

Considering there is no age restriction on the PH site these sort of adverts are just wrong and the associated advertisers should clean up their acts.

All they will do is drive people away from their site, shows what they think of the site users - cash cows to be abused.

It does look like it's gone ( for now at least ) . It would have been nice for someone at PH to have addressed the problem earlier and at the very least kept us up to date with the cause and solution. It may not be the case , but it certainly makes me feel like it's ads & profits over user enjoyment & functionality , an acknowledgement that it isn't is long overdue

Certainly not the case that we're doing this deliberately I can assure you, in fact I've been at Google HQ this morning with their engineers trying to get to the bottom of it.

As there a few tech savvy PHers we're going to post some instructions on how you can help us to catch it next time it appears later. If a few people are up for helping we should be able to identify the source. Once we know the source it'll be VBRJ time smile

I had this when viewing the full site on my phone.

Nothing via the mobile site.

But I'd been getting the same ste via the local rag site for about a week before I saw it again on PH - was this just a coincidence?

Yep - here too. Full site on Android phone.

Leaves me with no option but to reboot the phone.

Can't you click on it then go back, or press the search button and then the back button?

That's what I do smile

I guess I could click on the pop-up's 'OK' button, but I'd rather not. It disables all other functions on my 'phone.

Apologies - only just seen this. It boils my piss when our ad suppliers do this, but there's very little I can do until tomorrow AM I'm afraid, at which point I shall be doing this. tanktankshootshootargue and possibly a bit of punch

Kiss of death (I hope not) but mine has been clear for a long time. Regularly visit PH, both forum and main site, from my Galaxy Ace. Also have never had a problem from our main PC.

We're trying to track this down. Could anyone who sees it try to capture the URL it generates from (is it always the desktop site on your mobile device, or sometimes the mobile site too?) and the full URL it takes you to. Hard I know when the thing has gone popup tastic and locked up your phone, but it'll help us catch it quickly.
