Would love some input to help me decide between a couple of watches. It will be my first watch in this price band and any info or opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Omega: http://www.swisswatchesdirect.co.uk/swisswatches/3...

Buy a Sinn 356 and then buy a pre-owned Speedmaster Professional (~£1500) - ticks both your boxes for the same amount of expenditure smile

I really like the Frankfurt Sinn's. They have produced a few versions over the years.

This.

Pre-owned is the way to go

Going pre-owned is definitely a way to have your cake and eat it yes

The Speedmaster has the history and provenance and would be the more "obvious" choice, the Sinn (brand) still has a degree of history but the individual model can't compete. Both will be well made, both look great in my eyes but I do think that they'll wear differently; the Sinn is quite tall relative to its case diameter, the SM a little wider and flatter. The Omega you can try on in just about any large town, the Sinn will be a little trickier but Jura do have a returns service, I'd check with them though if that still applies to watches that they have to order in.

Also get a Speedy on a bracelet and not the strap shown in your link.

A strap can be added at any time but bracelets are a bit expensive if you want to change later.
