I'm contemplating putting winter tyres on my S-Type. Does anyone have any experience of using such tyres? Any recommendations as to tyre makes, versions, etc.? Any comments or suggestions will be welcome and may be useful to other Jag owners, too.

I've been thinking about this too. The S-Type is a dead loss in snow. Wife's Fiesta is excellent though!

Me too also. Not much choice in the 245/45x17 range, though. I had Kleber Quadraxers on the 330d last year and they were truly excellent.

My S-Type currently has 235/50R17 fitment but the handbook nominates 225/50R17 for winter fitment - presumably the narrower tyre gives slightly better grip.

The wife has ran Vredestein Wintrac Xtremes on hers for the last couple of winters. Kept her moving when other cars, mostly FWD fashion accessories with wide rubber, couldn't even manage the camber from the kerb to the centreline of the road.

We fitted a set of Cooper's Winter tyres to the Mrs MB a couple of years back, neither of us could believe the difference they make to winter driving. Not just in the snow, but on cold wet mornings too. New set on order for her latest car, they'll be going on the car this month.
