The Rugby team I play for are currently running a bit short on players (chaps going to university, getting shift work or getting too old). We have tried posters and the like around the local village but not getting much response.

So over to PH. How have your successfully recruited players for your sports club, be it Rugby, Football or other sports?

Cheers

My club usually scouted for the players they wanted, but I know that we often had non-league / lower league teams advertising in our clubhouse so that people could perhaps try a new sport or gain the interest of younger players who had stopped playing for a few years while at uni / college / shagging etc

Does your club have a youth system you could recruit from? Or local teams with a youth structure?

Part of our problem is not having a youth section and being located near some very big teams with huge youth set ups so it's hard to compete.

I think catching players who want a game post university is a good idea, will step up advertising in the local pub etc.

Create a Pitchero web site then update the clubs details on the RFU site. Web based marketing is the way forward, the goal being if anyone Googles rugby clubs in/near 'Timbuktu' (or whatever) your club site or a link to the club site is in the top results providing information and contact details for potential new players.
