Haha.
I "think"... reading between the lines, that the new version will be specifically aimed at people who are using the Hero 4 Silver Edition with the built-in LCD Screen.
The holder for the GoPro now has a open space for the LCD. This won't benefit anyone using a Hero 3/3+ or Hero 4 Black Edition though.
Maybe there are other new features coming too but that's all I can see for now.

Doesn't seem to have those cables sticking out the sides of the motors. I'd say they have updated this as the funnygo seems to be neater overall. I like the up down buttons on the funnygo but the feiyu seems better made.I "think"... reading between the lines, that the new version will be specifically aimed at people who are using the Hero 4 Silver Edition with the built-in LCD Screen.

I would be needing one of these on the extendable pole and using the app on the phone for a screen.
Do you know when you will get these yet?

Oops I already bought the steadicam off your website and it's on its way to me! I'll see how I get on anyway. I only have the standard 3 without a bacpac. No worries though.
Want a cheap one as it'll be getting slung in a rucksack/dropped in snow etc.
RE: getting a camcorder, if you watch my video from last season (not amazingly edited etc) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAzGG_SBhXY&fe... you will see the 'lifestyle' shots I mean. Its more convenient for me to just had 1 camera. I actually think the gopro works well for filming stuff other than action
Hey Tim, how are you getting on with the Steadicam Curve? I noticed you said you don't have a BacPac for it and you might need the Weight Kit to balance it properly.Want a cheap one as it'll be getting slung in a rucksack/dropped in snow etc.

As you bought it from me initially, I can now send you a Weight Kit FOC. Drop me an email: info@hobbymounts.co.uk and I'll get one posted to you.
Ok, so to,save having to scour all the pages.......
Anyone found the socket for the charging lead on the 3+ to be a weak point?
Mines broken and rattling around inside the camera, not sure how it happened other than might have caught the lead but thought it was ok, went to plug it in to charge and the connector pushed into the camera.
Can no longer charge it grrrrrrrrrr.
I believe its just out of warranty too.
Any idea on cost of repair?
Cheers
Gary

Can't answer the poster above but am looking for some help myself.
My son wants a go pro for Christmas and has asked for the top model (4 black). This is a bit steep but can cut a deal (which he agrees) with paying half and he saves up Christmas money and pays the other half. He has form for doing this and is very good at paying back so I am comfortable with this.
The question I need to ask is, which one? Does he really need the 4 Black? I feel I have read so many articles that my head is swimming.
He is 16 and a competitive rower so it is primarily for attaching to the boat and filming races or their techniques for improvement. What about fixings?

I wouldn't suggest the top model if he's not using it for a multitude sports but he's Young and I'm sure he find use for it in many different ways so I might be wrong. My son wants a go pro for Christmas and has asked for the top model (4 black). Would the surfboard mount be sufficient??? I'm only guessing as they are both watersports using a fibreglass hull or the like
The boats have a small metal tube sticking up which is actually for fixing the numbers when racing but I think it is also used for fixing cameras. He may also head mount it.
We spoke last night and he wants a really good one and he accepts he will have to pay half. His bike has pretty much given up as well and he does need a bike so I have to buy one of those as well at the moment. Not good timing.
I am still not totally sure whether to go for the silver or black editions.

Whilst it's tempting to just automatically go for "the best", does he actually need it? In all honesty, for the majority of casual users, the cost of the 4 Black is hard to justify other than the fact that people tend to automatically assume the top of the range is best. In this case it's more difficult because the Silver has a built-in LCD and the Black does not.
Also, there is the new basic model which looks to be cracking value for money. Especially as a 2nd camera for multiple angles.
Finally, just to muddy the waters further, there will be some very good 3 and 3+ cameras on the market secondhand from people trading up to a 4.
The mounts are common to all Hero cameras so shouldn't be a factor in your purchasing decision.
