A few times recently the rear offside door has taken two attempts on the plipper to unlock it. No great shakes.

Parked it at the start of the week however, locked it up, and as I walked away I absent mindedly tugged on the rear door handle. Which opened the door. eek

Took 3 attempts to get it to lock. mad

So intermittent sticky unlocking also = intermittent sticky locking. Who'd have thought? rolleyesredface

Door card off today - couldn't find a guide, but I had Gary's "the whole interior just pops apart" ringing in my ears, so it proved to be very intuitive thankfully. This allowed access for liberal application of WD-40 on the slidey and whirly bits. Spraying whilst excercising left the whole mechanism feeling loads smoother, and it now appears to be working 100%.

Since I was in there anyway I stuck on a few strips of p1k3y-dynamat (roof flashing tape tongue out ) on the inside of the door skin so it felt like I'd spent 30mins upgrading rather than just repairing. wink

Word of warning though - don't ignore it if yours starts sticking on the unlock.... I must have left my car unlocked several times. paperbag

WD-40 isn't best for locking/latching mechanisms, try a Teflon/PTFE/3 in 1 or graphite type lube.

Agreed K-Mud - it was all I had available at the time however.

GT85 bike lube is PTFE, isn't it?

Thanks for sharing. Nice to know it's a reasonably simple fix if it ever happens yes
