Strange feeling in my chest
Discussion
In the last couple of weeks I've started to experience a very weird sensation in my 'upper chest' over the old ticker.
The sensation is very difficult to describe, but in a sense it is almost like a slight pressure being applied to my chest. My heart seems to beat a a bit faster and my heartbeat feels a lot stronger when this happens. At the same time as this, I feel a shortness of breath (my chest and throat can feel a bit 'tingly') and can often feel quite dizzy, although not enough to make me feel unwell or pass out.
These 'events' can last from a few seconds to a few minutes. I'm a generally healthy chap in my mate 20s, non smoker, etc.
Any clues?

Probably nothing to worry about but go the doctors to be on the safe side.
I don't really 'do' doctors, I don't think I've been to a doctor for about 15 years or even have one any more! . If I have no joy on t'internet I'll give it a few weeks, if I am still feeling the same I'll find out where my local doctor resides.harveybobbles said:

I have found here: http://answers.yahoo.com/ is a really good place to ask about health issues, you'll get some really helpful and knowledgeable answers. They should put your mind at rest.You list;
slight pressure being applied to my chest
my heart seems to beat a a bit faster
heartbeat feels a lot stronger when this happens
I feel a shortness of breath (my chest and throat can feel a bit 'tingly')
often feel quite dizzy
err, go see a Doc, age is on your side but you never know so be safe and make that appointment.

Naa, get cracking on the doctor thing now. It might take you a couple of days to sort out anyhow.Go here and put postcode in. Follow link to nearest surgery, download registration form if the website offers it, fill in, generally sort it all out. Make an appointment, go and see them. Depending on your age you might be due a booster jab or a checkup or 3 anyway.
Look at it this way: if there's a problem and it gets worse over the "few weeks", you'll not just have fked your health up but cost the taxpayer/NHS a huge amount extra in more complex/emergency care and the like. If there isn't a problem, the cost is 30 or 40 minutes of your time (adding up form-filling and appointment attendance) and one GP appointment slot - and of course as a bonus you can stop wondering if you're about to drop dead.

No, really: go and get it checked out. However, be prepared to be sent to hospital for an appointment (or on the day in an ambulance if Dr thinks it is needed) as GPs don't do ECGs at surgeries.

So if you had a misfire on the car you'd just carry on and see if it went away? Or might you get it plugged in to the laptop? I wonder.Gassing Station | Health Matters | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
